Saw this on the Guardian blog - anyone know what it means? Who would we rather won the league?

I like the Guardian, but I've just read their match report. Chelsea's "anonymity in the opening 45 mins cam as a shock". Torres dinked his finish beyond Reina.

How can their editing be so dodgy when they know they have a reputation for it?

Most papers/magazines have done away with their copy editors... cost cutting.

Finally watching the game and just seen Torres first goal. Great goal and great build up. Simple. Good positive ball out of defence by Skrtel, great pass by Kuyt and fantastic finish from Torres.

And as for the second, fantastic finish again.

Oh and what a save by Pepe from Malouda!

Is it the first time since roy took over that the half time had more of a negative effect then good?

Aye...the two goals today were only the 2nd and 3rd goals we've scored in the 1st half in a league game this season.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

If we were to play like this more often, we would be doing alot better.

I'd like them to press even higher up the pitch and I'd still move the back four up, I dont like how deep they are

I've said for a couple of weeks that if we actually go on the front foot we will get results - we did today first half

Second half was more a "Roy tactic" and boy did it show

The highlight of the evening was meeting up with dww, Venton, royzared & Sybil.

Well done Roy & the lads. Second half wasn't that good, but the result counts.
                    Are we winning?

When Drogba came on I feared for Carra. He's been given a roasting by him before, but Carra had one of his better games. I'm sure he was in Kelly's ear all game too, coaching him along. Stuff we don't see on the box.

Brilliant first half, great battling defensive performance 2nd half. Heroes all over really, but...

Lucas Leiva, utterly brilliant performance, put his stamp on the game and bossed the midfield with supreme authority. Strong, powerful, confident, clever on the ball, offered great protection and even a little flick. Everything anyone could ask for. Best performance of his Red career by far.

Torres is back, the belief, the authority, the spark, the enjoyment of his football. Was totally up for it and the desire was a delight to see. Lovely Sexy Tits.

Carra also a hero and a leader today, every ball that came in, he seemed to be there, perfectly positioned to clear. Brave as ever, throwing his body in the way and defending like his life depended on it. Vintage Carragher.

Dirky Dirky Dirky...great workrate, great effort, supported Nando well and the ball through for the first goal was sublime.

Martin Kelly, so solid, so reliable, never once looked out of place, no-nonsense, just solid defending and simple use of the ball. Great prospect.

Pepe - 2 great stops at crucial points, little bit of luck with the 2nd one onto the bar, but the best keeper in the world deserves a touch of fortune. Super stuff.

Just a great first half display overall, solid and well organised in the 2nd half, albeit having conceded lots of the ball. But for all their possession, they didnt *really* create clear cut chances, we managed to keep them at arm's length and the lads deserved the wn.

                          Onto Wigan....

I can't decide if we bossed the midfield tbh. We sat back and Chelsea passed us off the park. I don't think the chances we had were much better than Chelseas tbh. Parking the bus comes to mind tbh.

That said. It's s results business and you don't get points for possession. We've now ground out an away draw in a hostile Italian ground with a reserve team, dominated a poor Blackburn side, ground out a win against Bolton which is a very difficult place to go, beaten Napoli, 5th in Seria A at last check with a weakened side and now we've beat the Champions whilst keeping a clean sheet.

In those 5 games we have come up against different challenges and passed them all. Now we have to make sure we keep at that same level for all the games to come. No excuses.
                            Forwards.......

We totally bossed them in the first half, we were in their faces and didnt let them play.

Second half, we decided to let them have it while we sat back and defended.

I was thinking the same thing. First half we were pressing OK but the second half we completely retreated in our half and gave them all the ball possession, practically inviting them to attack us.

It could have been catastrophic but luckily this time we came on top.

I am still surprised they focused their efforts on the left side where Kelly was very solid despite losing Drogba and Malouda on few occasions.

Konk, on the other hand, imo was a disaster waiting to happen and fortunately for us they played Ivanovic there for the most of the game and he is not attacking RB . Bosingwa came too late and almost made a huge difference.

LB position need to be addressed soon as Konk will be exploited by better wingers/RBs.
