I'm not sure we have a fast enough backline to have a high line. I know Chelsea aren't lightening but the employ Mike to make a back three and get away with it that way.

          I know who you meant

He's a bit ****, isnt he? How much did chelsea pay to have him kidnapped and then in compensation to the mancs, plus to Lyn Oslo?

Proper waste of time and money.

I've said for a couple of weeks that if we actually go on the front foot we will get results - we did today first half

Second half was more a "Roy tactic" and boy did it show
The problem is with Agger out the rest of our central defenders isn't good enough with the ball. That makes it very difficult to play to play the back four higher up the pitch.

If we want to play more attacking football then we must sign a new defender that can carry the ball out of defense.

We have very good defensive central defenders but Agger is the only attacking central defender we have.

You can't play a game that don't suit the players available. Right now with Agger out the type of Houllier tactic we play now is probably the best for the team.

I disagree entirely. At first he was perhaps a bit erratic but now he's quality. The interceptions he makes and the short simple passes he makes is vital for the way they play. Hence I praised us today for not letting him do that, particularly in the first half which disrupted them from the start. He's arguably their most important midfield figure.

I hate stats, but if we look at them I'm not entirely sure of the numbers but last week he had the most passes in the league say 740 or so at a 91% accuracy. I know that doesn't mean ****e, but it far exceeded anyone else's. I think his perhaps a player that Chelsea fans would notice more than say opposition fans would necessarily.

Overall I think he cost 16m - 8 to each. If he's really 23 (big doubt as he's Nigerian) then it's a great signing as they'll have him for a long time to come.

I think he's average at best. Bossed by Lucas today.

Lucas have showed in the past that he can boss any midfield in the world. It's been to many up and downs before. One excellent game followed by a rubbish one.

I said two years ago that Lucas need time just as every defensive midfielder needs. Look around and then name a few excellent defensive midfielders younger than 25.

It's a difficult position to play in so you need to play many games to learn it.

We'll agree to disagree, but I struggle to think of a better player in his position in the Premiership.

You struggle to think of a better player to play the holding role in the PL?

                      Erm....Essien? Yaya Toure? Huddlestone...Palacios...Darren Fletcher...Lucas...

And all that is with the PL being significantly weakened in that area, with Mascherano leaving us.

I think Tiote from Newcastle could come into this, from what ive seen him he's been brilliant, and he bossed Fabregas all over today.

An indication of what can happen when this group comes together as one? The second goal was perfection. Learned what a very clean sheet is.

You dont need a ball playing central defender to hold a higher line

Its not majorly important to that

Agger would come into his own in a possession based passing side I dont see us likely to play that under Roy but it still shouldnt stop you moving line higher up the pitch

I thought Skrtel was quite good with the ball yesterday. In fact he passed to Kuyt for the first goal. I've noticed he is trying to bring the ball out of defence more, which is nice to see when you have Carragher there who doesn't, to be kind
