And two of the most argued over players on the site were in the majority of peoples top three going by the MOM thread

Kuyt so often delivers in the big games too.

I actually laughed at an Andy Gray joke yesterday, when he took the p*ss out of Martin Tyler for slavering over Linda Pezzuti.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Its not majorly important to that

Agger would come into his own in a possession based passing side I dont see us likely to play that under Roy but it still shouldnt stop you moving line higher up the pitch
Carragher was urging the back 4 to move further throughout the game. Therefore I doubt that it was Hodgson's tactics but simply the pressure from Chelsea that kept us pinned back in the 2nd half.

Was gonna say the same. Very good performance (AGAIN) from Skrtel, and as you say did look to carry the ball forward. Was an excellent pass to start the move for the goal.

And all that is with the PL being significantly weakened in that area, with Mascherano leaving us.
The ones in bold I definitely wouldn't classify as holding midfielders. Toure can be, but hasn't been playing a holding role for City this season. Personally I'd only have de Jong and Toure ahead of him definitely although there are perhaps one or two other candidates.

                Hmmmm not convinced of that

In the first half we werent as deep as we have been (I'd still like us to play even higher)

Second half I'm not convinced it was Chelsea pinning us back or us just sitting back you can argue either way, the exact same thing happened at Blackburn

IF it isnt a tactic Roy should be up hollerring at them to get up the pitch (like Rafa use to)

We definitely sat back in the second half but I think that's entirely understandable when you're sitting on a two-nil lead against the Champions.

Hodgson deserves credit for yesterday but we'll see how long this run continues for before I eat any humble pie!

The only irritating thing about yesterdays result is these Manc cunts licking ass all of a sudden, thanking us for doing them a massive favour.

We sure did do them a favour but as usual being completely deluded, this was a temp set back for Chelsea, they're still by far the best team in the Country and will win the league comfortably.

Yep, ignore them. As you say Chelsea will still win the league by at least 5 points in my opinion, and even the most ardent scum fan knows it.

I thought it was interesting to see that in the first half we played more like we did when we were effective under Rafa, in that we held a higher line up the pitch meaning we had less ground to cover in supporting the strikers, and we pressed the opposition quite high up the pitch mor ethan we have been doing. We didn't dictate the play like we used to but it was still a good performance.

Second half, I'm not sure if it was a tactical decision or was the result of circumstance, but we were far too deep, for a significant period of the second half the back 4 were camped on the edge of the box with the midfield about 10 yards in front, and we were just hoofing the ball clear with an 'anywhere will do attitude'. I guess you can understand it somewhat being 2-0 up against Chelsea after our recent run. But I can't help but think that Chelsea on a better day, or another good side could easily have punished us.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You know I think the fact we sat so deep in the second half was as much to do with nerves as it was Roy's tactics. Surely he wouldn't have instructed them to sit so deep, it's almost suicidal. I saw Carragher numerous times yelling for everyone to push out. I will give Roy the benefit of the doubt here and say we got a little nervous and that's why we played so, so deep in the second half.

Hes been doing the same tactic for 35 years and sees no reason to change

Didn't believe it was possible, but Anfield was even more electric and exciting than what I got to experience on Thursday...

We had some Red Sox folks there for their first match, & they were also blown away by the passion, humor, and power of LFC supporters.

The energy of the Kop helped LFC shut out Chelsea -the first ranked EPL club- for LFC's fourth consecutive victory. Spectacular.

Did anyone else notice John Henry seemingly taking earplugs out of his ears at the end of the game? I'm sure I saw him do it. Noise at Anfield too much for him?
