Is it just me or has Hodgson completely lost it??
Take a look at the highlighted stuff in this text about Agger's return - it basically says that Hodgson (and Agger) is willing to push Agger's comeback forward despite the medical staff advocating for a later start...

Roy Hodgson hopes Daniel Agger will make his long-awaited return for Liverpool against Fulham.

Agger has failed to feature for the Reds since a 2-2 draw with Sunderland at the end of September owing to a calf injury and a subsequent calcification problem which has left Liverpool's medical team are reluctant to risk him in next Saturday's game at Anfield.

But Hodgson been impressed with the steps taken by the Danish defender during his road to recovery and believes that the Cottagers' visit to Anfield next weekend is the perfect time for Agger, 25, to make his comeback

"He's much better and working very, very hard," said Hodgson.

"He's really pushing himself beyond what we could even expect him to do so his attitude to getting back is first class.

"We're targeting the Fulham game. The Sports Science people tell us it's too soon because he really probably needs a little bit longer.

"But in my conversations with him he's in agreement that Fulham isn't out of the question so he's pushing for it.

It's not like Hodgson will be the first manager to bring back a player a little quicker. No need to name any names. Hell, most managers do it.

I know but that doesn't make such a decision any wiser...
And off course Agger probably won't start the match against Fulham anyway but with his injury record the last thing you would want to do is rush him back into action

I think Agger is not opposed to the idea of rushing it back as he is aware that this may be his last shot under Roy's management to prove himself.

Perhaps not smart given his injury record but I can dig it.

I think that, with agger, it's more a case of 'changing himself' than 'proving himself' - Roy's gripe with Agger seems to be his style of play - with the emphasis on 'play'. Roy doesnt want his defenders to play.

If Agger doesnt change his style, he wont be kept.

and Agger won't do that, not a chance.

Reina is another one in the same situation but he will probably at least stay until the end of the season. There is no way that he will stay and be trained in a way that makes him a worse keeper.

                      Quite ironic, isn't it Craig?

That style of play, which is what Roy wants to change, is what made Agger the high quality player he is. Take that away from him and he is just another mediocre defender.

And that desire to make him change, is what makes Roy the useless **** he is.

Whether you meant too or not you've just summed up Agger perfectly. Take away his ball playing abilities and he's just another mediocre defender.

Very over-rated player. I wouldn't complain one bit if replaced by someone else whose main asset is defending.

Nah, he can defend very well. He can just play football too.

I like Agger a lot but given his near constant presence on the treatment table I'd be tempted to cash in as I don't think he can be relied upon as a consistently fit first teamer.
A humble guy with healthy desire.
