    Possibly.

Unless the owners are looking at his previous injury records, looking at the bids we're receiving and thinking that it could be worth cashing in.

Who knows. It's all guesswork and nobody here knows what's happening behind the scenes. I'm just trying to be positive about it.

I just don't think Rodgers would stand for being dictated to in that manner.

        I don't know.

If the owners see 20 odd million plus a "young player" for a "older" player I can see why they would possibly put pressure on the manager to take it.

I still don't think they are quite up to scratch with football yet, and you have to remember we are just a business to them, they want us to make money with them spending as little money as possible.
The times they are a changin'.

This comes across as glib bollocks. Which "young player" are they ordering the manager to replace the "older" player with? Why don't they go the whole hog as just say: "get rid of Agger and replace him with Kelly, or Coates, as they are young"?

I think Gibbo is talking about Adam Johnson coming the other way. i.e. £20M + Johnson coming in for Agger.

all this chat about taking cash plus adam johnson from city...
dont really fancy johnson. isnt he thought to have a few issues?
i wouldnt want to see agger go, but 25-27m though

if we signed Diego Godín for maybe 12-14m, and still had enough to bring in a wide midfielder, and also dempsey in, adam out, and another wide man on loan/buy, then its looking quite good.

if agger stays then brendan needs the owners to spend. they will be reluctant until some of the bit part players are shown the exit.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I do not want to see Agger go but that seems to be the deal doing the rounds from City.

It would potentially help us going forwards but leave a huge hole in defence, I just don't think it's a sensible move for us at all.

What would the owners know about Johnson, how he'd fit in and the value he'd bring? What do the Owners know about the candidates for replacing Agger - if they would actually deign to have him replaced? Or would they delegate that to the Manager?

"Oi Rodgers, we're getting rid of Agger for £20mil + Adam Johnson, fit him into the team and sort central defence out. Laters".

I didn't say they knew anything other than there is a potential (rumoured) deal of getting £20+ Million plus Adam Johnson for Daniel Agger, they may view this as a good deal due to the increase on the original outlay for him (£5.8M) and by getting an attacking playing in the bargin which BR has been asking for funds to buy.

At the end of the day I fully expect Rodgers to be allowed the final say on if we try to sell him or not and that will depend on what else he believes we need to bring in and what is of a higher priority to him.

I don't think it's that far-fetched that an owner of a football club has the final, *final* say on all things that relate to money.

Rodgers might say he doesn't want to sell Agger, FSG might say that £25m is too good to turn down, we're going over you head, consider him sold and think about what replacement you can get for £15m whilst we allocate the remaining £10m to 'x'.

agree we need that extra attacking option, but imho, adam johnson is way down the list of players we should be considering. he isnt a consistent contributor, and we dont want any more passengers.

if jonson's makeweight value is say 7-8m, then we could probably get sahin, tello or walcott for somewhere near that amount.

perhaps, I'd think it's more down to "Buck, this is your budget but anything you raise in sales you can use in the market" hence why we've seen Carroll and Agger being linked with moves away IMO.

Oh don't get me wrong I completely agree I am just guessing at the thought process behind it all.

Johnson has potential but so far he's a MOTD player and unless he applies himself properly he'll remain that.
