Computer in work playing up so can't C&P.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Doesn't make me think any less of him at all that tbh. Loved that player, real shame.
      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Tbf I'd like to see threads for great servants/players like Agger and Suarez stay in the LFC forum. Just feels wrong seeing them banished to the dark recesses of the General Football forum.
Actually to be correct it didn't, I locked his LFC thread forever more (unless, well you know, never gonna happen though) and started a new one. I thought in that case it was appropriate in a strange way to do so.

In this case however, well, given where Agger has gone and how it looks like we'll be one of his only two clubs I personally tend to agree that it feels wrong, and unnecessary, to move it.

Not at all. He isn’t saying anything disparaging, just being honest.

Yup, player wanted to be in the team, good. I am quite sure from Rodgers' perspective there were very rational reasons for not playing him too - his long history of breaking down with serious injuries probably among them. He still played more games than his direct competitor and £15m new signing Sakho did last season.

I think it comes down to a combination of Agger ending up wanting to leave, as he physically can't handle the PL anymore (he indicated that some times in interviews) and from Brendan POV, that Agger is simply not the type of defender he has preference for. From his buys and selections it seems he wants stronger and more solid defenders (closer to a classical defender really) than a forward playing type player that relies more on anticipation than physique.

Good reception by the Brondby fans

Got beaten today nevertheless, though it doesn't look like Agger got off the bench........perhaps carrying a slight knock (which will soon turn into a season-long issue no doubt).

Again, nothing Liverpool related, but here we are.

Daniel Agger: differences with Brendan Rodgers led to Liverpool departure

                      • ‘I didn’t feel he appreciated my contribution,’ defender says
                      • Agger rejoined Brondby in August for £3m

Daniel Agger has admitted that differences of opinion between him and Brendan Rodgers led to his exit from Liverpool after eight years at the club.

Agger, who rejoined Brondby in August for £3m, suggested that Rodgers did not appreciate his contribution last season and believes his direct approach impacted on his relationship with the manager.

“Let me put it this way: me and the manager were perhaps not on the same page for all of last season. For most of last season at least,” Agger told the Danish TV programme Onside.

“There was some distance between us and for me that was enough. I didn’t feel that he appreciated the things I contributed. And when I feel that, then it is time to move on.”

“Maybe where it went wrong between me and him is that I am very direct. I say things as they are, and also expect that people are [that way towards] to me. Maybe it’s wrong to expect that.”

Agger, however, added that Rodgers is an “incredibly talented man” and an “extremely competent coach”.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Shame if that's true. Always felt last season might have turned out differently if Agger had played more when he was available.

This season too judging by the way the current lot are performing.

So did he leave because he was not physically up to playing in the Premier league any more, or did he leave becuase the manager would not pick him? He cannot claim both because the former is a very good reason for any manager not to play him.

Bit convenient that he gives the I love the club and felt it was time to leave because I am not up to it interview to the UK media, and then goes to the Danish media with the manager would not pick me interview.

Kind of reminds me of how during Rafa's time how any negative comments from Agger used to pop up in the Danish media and his I am happy to fight for my place type interviews would be on the Offy and in the British media.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Love Agger, but he clearly wasn't Rodgers cup of tea and as a result he's more than likely going to give out some negative comments.
