Well people call Roy a cunt for it, and kind of ignore Rafa's refusal to promote youngsters (because they love him)
He has shown plenty of potential while playing for our reserves and for the spanish youth teams, iv seen enough of him to know that he has ability. But he needs to get proper game time alongside Gerrard and Torres if we want him to progress. He's certainly alot more useful than the likes of Babel ffs. Look at what Wenger does at Arsenal with his young players, he isn't afraid to give guys like Wilshire and Ramsay etc their chances. If our first team aren't performing well then whats the harm in playing Pacheco?

I reckon Pacheco should definately not be given less game time than Spearing at this stage, there is room to play Pacheco as he can play in a variety of positions and IMO he should have been given more opportunities both in the league and Europe, specially the latter.

Maybe he wont prove to good enough, but I think we need to see him playing in a half decent team and IMO he can't use that Northampton game to limit Pacheco's playing time, using that barometer not one of our first XI is fit to play for Liverpool agains based on the Blackpool, Birmingham and Sunderland games not forgetting Wigan and Stoke.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

            Absolutely spot on.

And why should he be under pressure to perform in 1 game, albeit against seasoned pros from lower league but it is only 1 game FFS! And he is in more or less a reserve team!

Spearing must have done something amazing in that Northampton Game as he keeps getting a look into the 1st team sub bench.

The Liverpool manager told the Times: “He’s had moments when he’s looked good, others when not quite so,
“He’s working on his game. He featured in that unfortunate Northampton game. It was a great opportunity for those outside the first 13 or 14 to really show me, ‘You should be thinking of me.’

Exactly, nothing to do with Pacheco having flair and individual ability and Spearing having no talent at all except holding his arms out when he is looking to pass the ball

In fairness, he's a year older now and Rafa had started using him. He was regularly on the bench for us last season, and he was brought on in several important games when we were looking for a goal. Thats showing some level of faith.

To play him in a second string unimportant game and condemn him on the basis of that shows no faith at all. And confirms everything we heard about Roy having no interest in youth development. Its 30 year old multi-million journeymen all the way for him.

If only that policy was applied to the manager himself.

Rafa bought a lot of young players (Pacheco was brought here by Benitez) and started to redevelop the youth system. I don't think it's fair to say that he wasn't giving him a fair crack. He's probably more ready now compared to last year, so your attack should be solely focused on Hodgson, not Benitez.

NESV will be chuffed at Hodgson for selling a 19 year old and replacing him with more old gash he seems to like buying.
