Well i seem to remember him saying he'd have no problem leaving lfc if he was'nt playing regular, which at the time i thought was a strange thing to say, you should'nt expect other players to do things you deem yourself to good to do, imo, sets a very bad example, plus i thought he'd be happy to play a bit part if it was good for lfc, so i was a little surprised he came out and said it.

it says somehting in his autobiography about right back being a young mans position and it took a lot out of him when he was younger playing RB and didnt feel he could do it justice. SOmething like that from what i remember.
So he played cb, got dragged off after 70 minutes and downing got mom for roasting skrtel_____________________________________

Can you imagine Carragher's reaction if he was substituted like that???
Neville, Giggs, Scholes don't say anything when they don't play every single week whereas Carra appears to still think he has a divine right to play 90 minutes every single week regardless of form.
Personally I lost all respect for him when he happily played RB this season for Hodgson yet 2 years ago when we were chasing the title away to Middlesborough he flatly refused meaning Skrtel played there and we ended up losing 2-0 to a side that got relegated.
Liverpool through and through hey Jamie, so much so that you wouldn't play right back in 1 game to help us win the title for the 1st time in 19 years
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Not sure that the NEville comparison is fair. Before his latest spate of injuries he was always clearly furious when subbed off. The few years and the injuries have clearly changed his view - I'm not sure many players find the transition from first teamer to reserve easy.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostI've said this before Gary Neville might be a rat faced ugly ****er but he is Man Utd through and through, he is a couple of years older than Carra but he accepts not playing every week and was even laughing with Ferguson when he got brought off at the start of the 2nd half against Stoke a month or so ago (when he should have been sent off 1st half)

Giggs and Scholes may be different cases but further up the pitch removal from the fray tends to happen earlier and they are very different characters to Carragher. Also as attacking/creative players the plaudits has kept coming for both. They have also played a lot more games than people tend to think (even if both have been subbed pretty frequently).
While there is no defense for the behaviour a against 'boro it is potentially a different job. Now being a right back mostly means sitting on the edge of the 18 yard box , whereas Rafa wanted the fullbacks to contribute higher up the pitch which is relevant as his excuse was the extra physical demands.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostPersonally I lost all respect for him when he happily played RB this season for Hodgson yet 2 years ago when we were chasing the title away to Middlesborough he flatly refused meaning Skrtel played there and we ended up losing 2-0 to a side that got relegated.

I have to say in the last few years Carra has gone down in my estimation but some of the criticism on here (not yours in particular) seem a bit unfair."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I'm sure much of the criticism is unfair on Carragher but he undoubtedly wields too much power at the club, which is very dangerous even if comparatively he's bright for a footballer.
Out of everything I've read and heard about Carragher the one incident which I think is very telling was his "rushed" contract extension, literally hours before the take-over was finalised.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

I'm not sure that he is that bright really. He is, perhaps, in some ways, more thoughtful and studious than many others but his conclusions from the evidence in front of him don't often strike me as particularly insight filled. I guess this too might be unfair as Roy seems like an intelligent man whose conclusions about football also seem luddite and a bit rubbish to me.Originally posted by Rich View PostI'm sure much of the criticism is unfair on Carragher but he undoubtedly wields too much power at the club, which is very dangerous even if comparatively he's bright for a footballer.

I certainly agree about him having too much power. I just think that in this thread, like so many people in the past, he is being lambasted for interviews which don't necessarily say anything that controversial."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Playing 650 games for us is a phenomenal achievement so I am not knocking him lightly. I just think he uses the Liverpool through and through card a bit too much for my liking when you consider it alongside some of the other stuff we know, there is a strong argument that refusing to play RB cost us that game and with 3 more points at that stage of the season it could, COULD have won us the league.
His Dad openly slagging off Rafa, recent interview bigging up Houllier was 100% fine for me, the uncalled for bit was the digs at Rafa, Carra could have done a glowing piece about Houllier, how he was great, big influence etc... and been respectful towards Rafa but he chose use the words he did deliberatelyThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

The difference between us and Man U when it comes down to player power is that Fergie is in total control something our manager hasn't been in a long time.
The boss must be THE boss. If a Man U player complained then he would be sold and they know it. If a player complained here then he would maybe be off we get a good price.
The boss must be THE boss or else Carra and Gerrard situations will continue to happen. Gerrard situation...sulking knowing that he would get away with it.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a
