Do you really think appointing a new manager is instantly going to turn us into challengers? Even if we had Mourinho or Wenger appointed tomorrow we still would not finish in the top four. I've no doubt we would be better, but it won't be immediate. Take where we finished in Rafa's first season as proof of that.

Any new manager will be part of a rebuilding job for the rest of this season, preparing for next season. This season is done, and I'd like to believe that NESV are trying to find the right man for the next few years rather than a knee jerk appointment.

Not immediately into top 4, but we'd immediately be better than a side who can only fluke one away win by the halfway point of the season, no?

Surely thats exactly the point though.We need the new man in now cos this season is already a right off.That way he study the squad and be fully prepared when next summers window opens.If we wait to summer then next season is likely to be a right off too while the new man finds his feet.

Hodgson has to go and he has to go this month, it's as simple as that. We need to be in the Champions League, the longer Hodgson stays the further down the league we will finish.

We can't give him money to spend in January or our team will get worse. if he stays we'll sign more ****e like Konchesky and Poulsen. We're already being linked with people like Carlton Cole. We'll struggle to keep the likes of Torres and Reina as it is, what hope have we got of attracting anyone good if we sign Fulham and West Ham rejects.

Get a decent manager in now and ok we might not get CL football, but if we can show the likes of Torres and Reina we're progressing under a new manager we might have a chance of hanging on to them, do that and we can strengthen in the summer. Lose them and it's a full scale rebuilding job. If we wait until the summer their minds will already be made up without them having a chance to see what the new man can do.

Gerrard is bit overrated at the moment. It wouldn't be a big loss if we sold him. How many positions in the starting XI is he our best option. On the right and behind Torres. Two positions. Can we get in better players on the right and behind Torres than Gerrard? The answer is yes.

He isn't a must any more. We can replace him.

We can replace Carra without that much problem.

I agree with you that Pepe is the player we must keep. He is IMO our real Captain and leader.

gerrard is, at the moment, quite overrated. he is still one of our best 3 players on his day, but gone are the days when he was such a force that he could drag this team places by the scruff of its neck. might be one reason it's all gone so wrong.

Don't you think that injuries are playing a part? Hes been carrying some muscular injuries for quite a long time.

Without Gerrard, we are nothing..

We have lost something like five out of the last 25 games he hasn't played. We play better as a team without him.

To say that without Gerrard we are nothing is laughable.

The 08-09 season stats....

Without him......4 4 0

09-10 season stats....

With Gerrard......16 7 9
Without him........2 2 2

The last game we lost before this season when Gerrard didn't play was the 31st October 2009 and we didn't lose a single game without him the 08-09 season.
