    Aquilani on Form for Juve

Roy Hodgson may have spoke last week of how he rejected Christian Purslow’s advice to offload several players who are now part of his first team – namely Lucas, David Ngog and Ryan Babel – but he forgot to mention he did allow Alberto Aquilani and Emiliano Insua to leave.

Both were loaned out, to Juventus and Galatasaray respectively. While those two were shipped out with no fee received, Hodgson spent £7.5m on their replacements, Christian Poulsen and Paul Konchesky – the two worst players in Liverpool’s squad this season.

Ironically, Aquilani, who has been compared to Paulo Sousa after establishing himself in the Juventus side, is now being played as a more central midfielder, the position he was played in under Rafa Benitez last season but struggled to adapt to. “I am more of a central midfielder. Before, I was further forward in the offensive phase. Now I have to have more balance and be careful also in defence”, he explained.

Aquilani has been a key part of the Juve side who are now second in Serie A, scooping the club’s player of the month award for November.

A few people on here didn't believe he would be good enough for us.

Have we got any chance to bring him back? I wouldn't imagine he'd come without being dragged kicking and screaming but still
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

                Shame.

He really looked good since he made the switch.

Its clear he is talented but whether he was suited to the english premier leahue we will never know as he never got a chance.

He may never have adjusted to the pace...........

Aqua was never gonna make it in the premier league, suited nicely to Serie A though slower pace and less physical. Lets not say just because he is doing ok in Serie A that it would be the same if he was playing for us this season in the premier league, no comparison in the tempo and physicality of the leagues. I loathe Roy as a LFC manager but i don't disagree with this decision, the mistake was buying Poulsen from Juve. Meireles is doing just fine at CM for us and he is Aqua's replacement 'so to speak', so we don't need Aqua anyways.

I'm delighted Aqua is doing well, hopefully it means Juve will fork out the cash in the summer.

Of course when he dominated the games at the end of last season when you know who started to play him doesn't count.......when he created a few assists and played excellent as our playmaker.

Well, it's all about opinion, but myself, i thought i saw signs he could very well make it in the premiership, once he got nearer full fitness he began to have an impact on games he played in, his class was evident, his fitness was the problem..and just having time to play himself into the premiership, which i believe he would have done, especially if we recruited other decent players from then on too, he could..i hope, still be part of this clubs future.

He was excellent at the end of the season cause he was featured week in and week out.

It was an absolute stupidity to loan him for nothing and I personally think he could have made it (needed a chance to play regularly) but we will never know for sure.

He done ok, sure he got a few assists, although 3 of them were deflections if you remember. But dominated? Not really mate. Italian football IMO suits him down to the ground he is much more at home there no pun intended, more time and more space, sure we don't need him much prefer Meireles, and IMO if we can get 12 million squids back for him, happy days.

Should've kept him just for the glamour. Sometimes it's nice to say you have a 19m flop on the bench. It's like saying 'yeah I have a house in the Bahamas but I don't use it much'...
