It angers me every time I think about it.

I had reservations about Aquilani but he's fifty times the player Poulsen will ever be.

Juve should be ashamed - mugging an old man like that in broad daylight.

          After thinking on this.

He's probably best of at Juve with Roy in charge. He is never in a million miles a Roy type player.
          Forwards.......

The vid vs Lazio, well it wasn't exactly Alonso vs Spurs. I still don't rate him very highly. His passes are often not to feet and the odd unnecessary flick doesn't do much for me. We could definitely use him this season, but I really doubt he'd find his feet in Roy's 'system'. Still a meh player is much better than an injured meh player so it was mad to loan him out when he'd got himself fit.

Am I missing something here? He looked distinctly average in that clip vs Lazio. Lots of the crossfield balls to the left back were miles wide of the mark. He was given lots of time in the centre of the park by the Lazio midfielders and he still had trouble getting the ball under control. Some nice flicks and that but doesn't constitute nearly the player that the previous comments would suggest. We always knew he could hit a good dead ball but decent balls into the 6 yard box are wasted on our players.

He looks happy to be back in Italy and there is a hunger there that was distinctly lacking here. He's still the biggest flop (excluding R Keane) that I can remember in a long time.

Far too flaky for the Premier League and £12M would be good business.

                  Shame.

Well I'll have to beg to differ here as I actually thought he was good enough.

He just didn't get enough playing time mainly down to his injuries but when he did play he seemed to be one of only a few players in our team that actually knew how to find space or create space which put him on a completely different wavelength to the majority of rest of team, as they didn't

At the end of last season he was playing very well.

I made this point about him on one of the many threads last season, in the games he played, when he was fit, I felt he looked to keep the ball moving quickly with first time passes and movement hence creating space for himself and others but as SimonNo7 so eloquently put it the players around him just weren't on the same wavelength. Given time I think the lad could have done very well but he would defo have to toughen himself up ala Lucas!

I have to say I'm a bit on the fence on this one. He did some good things but we saw far too little to give a definitive judgement. I though he looked excellent when I saw him before he came and would have loved him to have had more of a chance but that doesn't mean he was a guaranteed success.

If, as seems likely given previous one-in one out style transfer annoyances, we needed him off the wage bill to bring in Meireles (who has played nearly every league game since he arrived) then you can see some logic to the decision.

Still think the need for that sort of transfer policy shows all involved in the previous ownership regime in a pretty bad light.

Sounds compelling. And I'd certainly rather have Raul than Alberto.

Those clips don't show much though do they? Roy Hodgson would do well in the Italian league , as teams sit so deep it's unreal.

I do think that Aquilani would have prospered for us this season if given the chance. He's got talent for sure, he just needs to rough up a bit, but he's gone back to a league where he won't learn anything new. Great management by the Dodge.
