Its not like he's come through the press and said it, he's used his own social media to express an opinion. Its really not that bad.

Yeah this technical ability of Johnson's really helps him in his efforts to stop wing wizards like Matt Taylor, Stephen Hunt and the 57 year old Ryan Giggs who have all ran rings around Johnson.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostFair assessment.
Johnson's is one of the best technical players at the club and as i said before, i wont be judging anyone based on Hodgson's tenure.

I hear ya mate and different strokes for different folks, personally i'd prefer him to get his head down and start playing well rather than respond in a childish manner on a social networking site, he gets paid enough money to ignore these irrelevant criticisms. I just thought it was a silly thing to respond to, as there is criticism everywhere in the modern game, it spart and parcel these days. Same when babel was spouting ****e out over Twitter, everyone just wanted him to shut up and get the head down.Originally posted by Daniel Torres View PostIts not like he's come through the press and said it, he's used his own social media to express an opinion. The last thing we need as a club in our situation is yet more off the pitch nonsense. Its nothing major, just but stupid and unnecessary IMO.Last edited by danperkins; 08-01-11, 09:42 PM.

They have a lot of free time on their hands, so why not? They are all young men and it’s the latest fad, so rather that than following the example of our thread subject.Originally posted by Rudo View PostTbh i don't know a **** why footballers even bother with Twitter accounts, i mean surely they know whatever they say will be reported in the media and could be made a big deal of??

Yup many silly things said on social networking sites, surely these apparent professionals, can see that posting certain things is gonna cause a **** storm or unnecessary publicly. Glens not the first and he certainly won't be the last footballers to make that mistake.Originally posted by Rudo View PostTbh i don't know a **** why footballers even bother with Twitter accounts, i mean surely they know whatever they say will be reported in the media and could be made a big deal of??

Bollocks. I'm glad they do it, it gives us an insight into the day to day runnings and their feelings and thoughts, and it's better to hear it from the horses' mouth than some made up wank from the media 'Sky sports news understands that we all suck cock in the studio and Glen Johnson is a ****'Originally posted by Rudo View PostTbh i don't know a **** why footballers even bother with Twitter accounts, i mean surely they know whatever they say will be reported in the media and could be made a big deal of??

Yeah, they'd be better off agonising over birds they fancy down the gym, or starting fights with barmaids and getting barred from nightclubs.Originally posted by Rudo View PostTbh i don't know a **** why footballers even bother with Twitter accounts, i mean surely they know whatever they say will be reported in the media and could be made a big deal of??

Liverpool’s Glen Johnson: Controversial Merson Tweet Deleted
January 8, 2011 | Maddy Rowe
As we all know football is a intensely competitive game that has devoted fans awash with emotion. But its not just the fans that struggle to contain their enthusiasm when voicing their opinions through the social media forum.
Glen Johnson, Liverpool‘s star defender has been unable to hold in his thoughts when reacting to ex Arsenal mid-fielder Paul Merson’s comments on Sky Sports. As reported by UK Eurosport, when describing Johnson’s abilities Merson said Johnson, “couldn’t defend for toffee.”
Johnson who has almost 37,000 followers on the social networking site, fired an almost instant reply via his Twitter account stating; “Comments from alcoholic drug abusers are not really gonna upset me and who is Paul Merson to judge players, he was average at the best of times,” he added, “The only reason he’s on that show is coz he gambled all his money away. The clown!”
The comments referred to Merson’s problem years dealing with alcohol and gambling addiction, through his career as a professional player. Winning himself 21 caps for England and playing for teams like Arsenal, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.
Twitter was quick to act by deleting Johnson’s slating of the television pundit, after receiving an onslaught of complaints. Tell us if you think that professional sports people, that have thousands of adoring fans should react to criticism in this way? Is it a knee-jerk reaction? If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
