Think Meireles is getting a little too much stick tbh. People called him a pussy for not letting himself be the victim of a 2 footer. There were one or two other tackles where he didn't fully commit, but overall he put in a reasonable shift. The two aimless dinks over the top also stick out, but he was the one trying to do something a bit different and high risk. Not a good game, but not that bad.

I could have handled it if Man U had played us off the park but until Gerrard got sent off we looked a lot better then thay did. If Berbatov hadn't of dived after 30 secs the tie would have gone back to Anfield. Utd did nothing.
In fairness to Meireless it looked as if Rafael was going in with a two footed lunge, I don't call that being a pussy I call that being smart.
There's been a two footed challenge in the Ipswich v Chelsea game. Result: yellow card for the Ipswich player. Graham Taylor saying you can't go in two footed, as it will always be a foul.
Tonnes of positives from that game, I nearly don't mind losing it even if it is to the scum.
Kelly was immense, our defence played as a solid, organised collective, we carried a threat even with ten men having been gubbed with an apalling decision in the early minutes, the character, unity and team spirit are back and for the first time in Lord knows how long, we have a manager with the balls to make attacking substitutions and go after the bloody game when the need arises. And Torres, whose sulky, petulant lack of effort was the one real black spot, got the gate when he wasn't putting in his shift, just to let him know who the boss is and that the club and the shirt is bigger than everyone. In short, we are a team again.
The test now though, is once the fizz goes out of Kenny's second coming and the sense of enthusiasm and excitement has dissipated, can we maintain that level of commitment and effort in the less glamorous games between now and the end of the season. I'm positive for the first time in months though.
