Idrizaj signs on loan
By Dan Collier
Date: 17/3/2007
Luton Town have signed Austrian striker Besian Idrizaj on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season and the 19-year-old goes straight into the squad to face Ipswich Town today...
Idrizaj, who can also play on the left of midfield, joined Liverpool in 2005 from Austrian side Linzer ASK. He is yet to play for the Anfield side in the Premiership, but scored twice for the reserves against Wigan Athletic in midweek.
It is not yet known whether his move was initiated by Mike Newell before his departure or whether this deal was done by Brian Stein over the past few days.
Besian Idrizaj has been allocated shirt number 23.
Luton 0-2 Ipswich
Luton fans called for the club's board to resign after Ipswich won at Kenilworth Road to plunge the Hatters deep into relegation trouble.
Chairman Bill Tomlins was under fire after boss Mike Newell was sacked.
And Ipswich piled on the agony, going ahead six minutes before half-time when Alan Lee headed in after Alex Bruce volleyed against the bar.
Matt Richards increased the home fans' fury after 62 minutes when he turned in Fabian Wilnis' right-wing cross.
Luton: Beresford, Keane, Carlisle, Heikkinen, Emanuel (Coyne 46), Foley (Runstrom 79), Barnett, Robinson, Bell, Talbot, Idrizaj (Feeney 46).
Subs Not Used: Brill, O'Leary.
Booked: Robinson, Barnett.
Ipswich: Price, Wilnis, De Vos, Bruce, Garvan, Walters (Clarke 86), Legwinski (Richards 27), Wright, Williams, Lee (Haynes 74), Roberts.
Subs Not Used: Supple, O'Callaghan.
Goals: Lee 39, Richards 62.
Att: 8,880.
Ref: A D'Urso (Essex).

Love to see Hamill light up our pre season games and get a chance under Rafa. The main problem has always by all accounts been his attitude rather than ability but Dunfermline fans have nothing but good to say, works hard, is getting kicked all over the place but just gets up and gets on with it etc etc. Good to hear, he's defo got a chance to make it here.

Yeah he was mate, hopefully he's taken whatever advice he was given and is using it which by all accounts is what is happening. Be great if we have a home grown come through.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostMeant to be a bit of a prima-donna isn't he? There is a fine line here, between being disappointed by your own performance and reacting because you are competitive and want to do well, and showing "disrespect" towards the manager and the teammates.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostMeant to be a bit of a prima-donna isn't he? Just found a link on the Liverpoolfc.tv site with some information:
Liverpool have 12 players out on loan at various parts of the country and the continent at the moment. Here's how they are getting on.
Godwin Antwi
The 18-year-old centre half is at League Two side Accrington Stanley and made an impressive debut during their 1-0 win over Torquay United at the weekend. The former Real Zaragoza player is on loan at Stanley until the end of April.
David Martin
The England under-20 international goalkeeper is also at League Two side Accrington Stanley and made his comeback from injury during Saturday's 1-0 win over Torquay United. Martin was injured after just five minutes of his Stanley debut during the 2-2 draw with Lincoln City on February 24, but he will now stay at Stanley until the end of March.
Besian Idrizaj
The Austrian forward is at Championship side Luton Town until the end of the season. He played the first 45 minutes of Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Ipswich Town before being substituted.
Lee Peltier
The home grown midfielder is currently with Championship side Hull City until the end of the season. Peltier wasn't included in the Tigers squad for Saturday's defeat at Sunderland.
Scott Carson
The England under-21 international is on a season's loan at Charlton Athletic and despite the team struggling to avoid the drop he has been one of the major successes at the Valley. Carson has put in a string of man of the match performances.
Danny O'Donnell
The former Academy centre half is on a season's loan at League One side Crewe Alexandra and has so far made 19 appearances and scored one goal.
James Smith The Liverpool born full back is currently at Scottish First Division outfit Ross County until the end of this season. He made his Liverpool first team debut this season as a substitute during the Carling Cup win over Reading and has been a regular member of the Ross County team since his move.
Djibril Cisse
Now recovered from a broken leg the flamboyant French striker is playing well for Marseille and scoring goals.
Danny Guthrie
The midfielder is strutting his stuff at Championship side Southampton and has proved to be a popular figure. He has earned a lot of plaudits from the Saints faithful for his performances in his preferred central midfield role.
Adam Hammill
Earning rave reviews at Scottish Premier Division side Dunfermline. The winger is enjoying his football and has scored some spectacular goals including a Scottish goal of the season contender against Celtic.
Florent Sinama-Pongolle
The French gem is at Spanish La Liga outfit RC Recreativo until the end of the season. He has proved to be a big success in Spain and has scored some crucial goals, including one in a win over Real Madrid.
Anthony Le Tallec
The French youngster has spent the entire season back in France with Sochaux and has made 19 appearances so far, scoring two goals.
