Personally, I'd rather sit in the comfort of my own house with a few beers watching a match in HD on a Sunday than having to make my way to the bar paying extortionate prices for booze, listening to muppets talk about football and watching a crap screen with foreign commentary on a Saturday.

    That's just me.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The thing is though, many of our matches on the Sunday aren't televised either. They're 3pm kick offs too.

Yeah and watching the match on a **** stream does my head in, but it makes that little bit more bearable if it's on a Sat...Gilette Soccer Saturday and what have you.
Just think there's more of a buzz before, during and after the game when it's on a Saturday.

If it makes it more bearable watching it on a Sunday why would you prefer the games on a Saturday?
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

                It does make a difference

Over £10 million if we go all the way in the Europa

With the UEFA FFPR it is almost a must to be involved in Europe in one form or another

Catch 22 Lec - to go all the way, we need to field our best XI in the Europa. If we do that, we sacrifice league points and this could potentially lead to us missing out on CL for a THIRD season in a row - which will cost us far more than £10m.

We will be at no less of an advantage than the other teams (except for Spurs who if we came 5th wouldnt be in Europe)

Frankly I'd take the money and the risk

£10 million is £10 million and is another signing that could be made next season

We've missed out on the Champions League because of a lack of investment off the pitch, poor performances by the players and bad management

Not because of the squad being overworked due to having to compete in the Europa League

We've apparently made in the region of £6-7 million from our run this season which should be enough to pay for one of Enrique or Adam

i'd prefer to be in the europa than out of it -

especially given the fact that a) we have some youngsters really benefitting from it, b) we should by all acocunts be strengthing the first team...

As someone else said - if for arguments sake we sign

                      A top left back
                      A top centre half
                      A top centre mid
                      A top left mid
                      and another striker.

then competition for places will be fierce - and the europa would mean game time for the back up keeper, kelly/flannagan/robinson/skrtel/spearing/shelvey/ngog/pacheco/coady maybe even pacheco and ngog etc etc.

I have no issues with us being in it...providing we use it for that sort of reason and it doesn't effect our first team - ie, i'd be fuming if gerrard/reina/suarez all played on the thursday night, got injured and it meant we were ****ed for the league game sunday

But to be fair, even to hodgson, we didn't do that much this year and played tthe squad/ressie/youth as much as possible
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Surely the two are linked. Poor league performances (which can come courtesy of not having a squad strong enough to compete on both domestic and european fronts) leads to no CL, leads to no money, leads to a lack of investment into the squad.

I dont mind being in the Europa Cup, as long as we literally dont field a first team in it, until at least the quarter final stages. But we will. And, again, it'll cost us in the league.

There are absolutely no concrete stats to prove that being in European competition negatively effects league performance. There was a big article about this myth recently.

I was at Upton Park 3 days after a Europa tie and i saw it with my own eyes. The same players who had HAD to play the Europa tie on the thursday, because we hadnt done the job in the 1st leg, were tired, jaded and ****e at West Ham. Fact. Keep your stats, i dont need a weatherman to tell me when it's pissing down with rain.

We need to be in Europa League competition for various reasons.

Clearly, just by considering this season, it would be the sign the club is going in the right direction above the standard benefits such as nice revenue stream from match day tickets sales and pay off based on success on the pitch, opportunities for squad players and youngsters to get some valuable minutes, opportunities to attract better quality players (still better than not to play in any international competitions), European competition presence to provide for sponsorships visibility etc.

It is very strange to see anybody suggesting we are better off not to participate in any European competitions.

I understand what your saying Craig but in someways is not the same as playing in the Champs league on Weds then playing a game on the Saturday (which I remember we struggled with that too).
Im split tbh. Id prefer Europa than no Europe but I also dont want us to **** up our league hopes as well though.
                                **** it, whatever happens happens.
