If we want to get back in the CL, then quite simply we need CL level investment and CL quality players.

I would say Young is better than lennon and I would also say Adam is better than palatrocious.

Adam for me is a no brainer better than Poulsen/Spearing.....we need a couple of decent squad fillers as well as top draw to.

No chance would I sign those 4 players. That would not be taking a step forward. Warnock is hit and miss, Parker is the wrong age while Downing and Young are ridiculously inconsistent

He's not a world beater but PL proven, good solid, only 25 and as long as he's not overly expensive I would be personally content with him.

Also you cannot look his potential signing in isolation. If we sign a quality LB, Young will give us so many different options that he cannot at the moment at Villa (he was MOM against Wales partly due to the fact that him and Baines linked up so well on the left) as they don't have a good LB.

Fair enough his assist record is fairly impressive 8, 16, 14 and 17 going back from his season for each of his 4 full seasons at Villa. With 8, 9, 9 and 9 goals (according to wikipedia) and it's only recent seasons that he's become Villa's regular penalty taker. I think it's fair to say that this season he hasn't been as impressive as previously - perhaps due to tactics or lack of players around him doing it?

I would worry that most of those come from set pieces - our delivery has not been as bad as some make out and I think he has been helped by playing in a team made largely of giants.

I guess his pace might make him useful in terms of getting behind defenses though. But then everyone thought that about Babel too, who is the player Yound most reminds me of.

Young has proved he can score, beat a man and cross a ball and has been consistently good in the premiership .....apart from the odd blip

Young uses both feet, can cross, good passer, much more game intelligence than Babel, better dribbler, good on both wings, not selfish, defensively stronger, free kick and corner specialist, much better work rate etc.

Also Babel's preferred position is a striker which is not the case for Young.

He really doesn't and he is considerably worse under pressure and often makes a lot of poor decisions.
