We should be looking to replace the poorer players in our team, we need another striker and more creativity and intelligence in midfield. We do not need to be looking to replace our most creative attacking threat. We should be looking to replace Carroll in that case, not Suarez.Originally posted by Darkon View Post
The key is if we could get a replacement that can score goals, and that's really down to the market.

I'm not disputing that first sentence, but that is not for me to want to keep him for the right price. A doubling of what we paid would be good business in the current climate of limited transfer activity.Originally posted by Mostar View PostThere is so much more to Luis game than scoring goals and even though he should be definitely putting more in the net he is not out and out type of a striker.
Also who is he playing with atm. He rarely played with Stevie and the types of players that he has been surrounded this and last year will hardly get the best out of him or any other top class footballer.
Let's buy Cavani types of a striker and Goetze/Hazard type of AM and let's see what happens with his goal production and level of his game in general.
He barely scratched the surface in terms of what he can offer to this team and I wouldn't sell him under no circumstances.
I also think that he is a short step away from doing something rash, and that just brings everyone down. I'm not talking about Evra episode here (apart from the handshake). I'm talking about giving the Fulham fans the finger, or biting or an opponent. Something stupid will happen at some point, and it will go on and on. He is that kind of impulsive person that reacts to ****. And I'm honestly fed up of the whole circus.
I'm more than happy to keep him, he is an asset, but if the price was right, I'd sell.Oh I don't know.

Well that goes without saying.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWe should be looking to replace the poorer players in our team, we need another striker and more creativity and intelligence in midfield. It's not an either / or situation.Oh I don't know.

It is already here. Why do you think we bought ****ing Carroll and not Kun?!. Because we are unwilling to pay top wage for the top footballer and I don't expect anything to change and neither should you.Originally posted by Darkon View PostIf we don't want to pay top money, we have no chance of holding on to Suarez in the long run if he is a top top player, so it's a self defeating way of thinking IMO.
I'm not sure who exactly I would buy and I don't really fint it helpfull to just namedrop, but looking at a lot of footy around Europe and I see plenty of strikers that look to be at least as good for less money.
Why would we be selling him ? Because of his goal scoring rate? Is that it? Who is he playing with? Carroll? Downing etc? Do they help him get the best out of him or he is the one that has to create for himself?Originally posted by Darkon View PostI don't give a s*** about what it means to Fergie, if he feel he has one then so what? If we don't sell him for a huge sum that could improve our overall team because Ferguson believes he shouldn't play for us, we would be shooting ourselves in the foot just to defy Ferguson - makes no sense tbh.
If you gonna sell someone go ahead and sell Carroll, Downing, Adam and all other **** we have and we still have plenty and not one of the genuine world class players we have left. That makes no sense tbh.Last edited by Mostar; 16-02-12, 01:57 PM.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Maybe so, but getting rid of our best player just to make a profit would be a terrible sign for us, it would signal that we are sliding further into mediocrity and send out nothing but a highly negative signal.Originally posted by dom9 View PostWell that goes without saying.

Very surprised at peoples opinion on this, that they would sell Suarez for 50mill Euros, apparently in order to get the money and build a team.
We have new owners, Suarez is one of our better players, we will be building a team going forward regardless, selling Suarez imo would hinder this project not help it.
So we sell him, and we get lucky enough to buy a replacement that is as good or better, then some club will want to buy him, where does it stop!
We are trying to build a squad thick with quality, selling that quality won't help the cause imo.
We're Liverpool ffs, not Wolverhampton Wanderers!
Financially we are in good shape, just no need or sense in letting our better assetts go.Last edited by Vermilion; 16-02-12, 01:53 PM.

I think some go overboard on Suarez' 'World-Classness' sometimes, but he's clearly a top player and an integral part of a first XI.
Selling him would be folly."I will make the boys feel your support"

Yes and as I said selling him just for profit would be so small time it would simply be another step to us turning into Villa under O'Neill.Originally posted by Darkon View PostObviously to the first part and look at dom9's answer for the second.

If you read my other posts, you'll see that I have said that a suitable repacement would be required.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostMaybe so, but getting rid of our best player just to make a profit would be a terrible sign for us, it would signal that we are sliding further into mediocrity and send out nothing but a highly negative signal.
Selling for pure profit? No. That's just stupid.Oh I don't know.

But who will you buy with that money if we are not willing to pay top, top wages.Originally posted by dom9 View PostI'm not disputing that first sentence, but that is not for me to want to keep him for the right price. You cannot have it both ways.
We will end up with Carroll x 2 as that is our business approach these days.
In terms of money we can get for Suarez, personally we would be better off to wait rather than sell as the clubs will try to low ball us given Evra debacle.
When it comes to his impulsiveness I agree that he needs to control himself more but he has been through so much lately and I think he learnt his lessons and he will be completely different player on the pitch going forward and the rest of the season can serve as barometer for that.
No I don't think we should sell him this year as we need a player of his qualities to take us to the next level.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
