For me it isn't a case of morals it's a matter of him possibly getting a longer ban in the future. If you could say for certain he would never get into trouble again I would keep him. Morals are neither here nor there for me and I suspect the same is true of many clubs. Barca for instance haven't been put of by Suarez's latest indiscretion.

Well, it would seem the club are happy to keep him. But if the right offer comes in, they are happy to sell him.Originally posted by G View PostThey haven't been put off by the risk of another ban either so why should we be?
Which seems sensible enough to me.
I just hope this doesn't drag on until deadline day. Replacements will be snapped up by others as soon as the world cup finishes.Oh I don't know.

I was vehemently against selling him but I'm bloody sick of hearing about him now! I'd still only sell if the offer was good for us. What that offer is I really don't know. It would have to include top class players though because I think we'll still struggle somewhat top attract the big names, especially if we are selling the best one we have.Originally posted by dom9 View PostWell, it would seem the club are happy to keep him. Towards the end of our title tilt last season I worried we may not get a better chance to end the wait. This happening and the likely prospect of loosing him has heightened the fears.

According to several Danish medias Suarez is fairly close to becoming a Barcelona player and accordring to them Messi has approved the transfer. I don't know how good their sources are but I don't think Liverpool would accept a bid below £60 million. Even though the board and the owners might have had enough of his behaviour they wont sell at all cost.
By the way I really think that Suarez has a good chance of a reduction of the ban now that FIFPro supports Suarez.Last edited by Philip FC Kopenhagen; 29-06-14, 01:53 PM.JUSTICE FOR THE 96!

My biggest fear also. Legacy's are built upon taking opportunities, we didnt take ours. Will a second chance come around quickly?Originally posted by G View Post

Well there has been, yesterday someone was writing people's lack of morals were "****ing disgraceful", we cant support the biting, racist incident, diving handshake saga scumbag. That same person 7 days ago was hoping for Benzema to have a great world cup so Real wouldnt bid for Luis, writing "**** off Real" on the forum when links to Madrid appeared etc. No morals then, he was the same "biting, racist incident, diving, handshake saga scumbag". Vermilion is right, you cant be having no problems with the 2 time biting, racist but 3 time, biting racist and it's morals time? Thinking enough is enough and wanting rid is fair enough but the moral lecture from someone who was begging for him to stay just 1 week ago? I'm norravintha!Originally posted by Alex View PostIts not really an attack of Morals though.
I'd keep him because I think right now he's the best player on the planet. And I love watching him, we've had loads of amazing players in the past and will have loads of amazing players in the future but we could quite easily never see someone like him again, he's unique and has the most ridiculous will to win I've ever seen, he has a tantrum if we're 5-0 up and keeping the ball in stoppage time instead of going for the 6th ffs. I can see why people would get rid now though, he misses games every season and is probably one bad incident away from being a worthless asset with a years ban or more. But I'd risk it and I prefer 28 games of the best player in the world (or one of the them) than 38 games of another player even if they're boss like Alexis Sanchez.Originally posted by dom9 View PostWhat's your stance on it now Chris? Keep, get rid, torn, indifferent?
Plus I want to see him here in the CL! He loved that Europa game v Zenit and that atmosphere, even if we couldnt quite make it through, I want to see more of that sort of night and performance.

A lot of people are mentioning the risk of an even longer ban for any similar type of incident in future and citing this as a good reason to get rid.
I am just wondering if we did keep him and the worst happened - an incident occurred again, this time in a PL or CL game what would the situation be? I am guessing that only FIFA have the authority to completely ban someone from football, the FA are limited to English competitions and UEFA Europe. Would FIFA be able to interject and hand down a ban or override the decision made by the FA/UEFA? Or would the FA or UEFA defer a decision to FIFA? Or would FIFA want to stay out of it? The unprecedented nature of this punishment leaves me with less understanding of the way things work in football now. While an FA ban would likely be lengthy could they take into account previous issues that hadn't occurred under their jurisdiction?
My view on FIFA is that they want to protect their interests and their brand, they aren't too fussed about the sport in general or the reputation of any FA or representative body, so I wonder if they would step in if an incident of this type occurred again in a league or European game would they do anything or would they stay out of it?Last edited by Exiled_red; 29-06-14, 02:13 PM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

What's the view on the likelihood of Sanchez coming the other way?

Despite being utterly sick and tired of negativity surrounding him he really is too good to just let go without a fight. His worth on the pitch whenever he's available still far out weighs the ****e that comes with him. Let's not forget that last season a lot of people where saying he's the best player we've *ever* had. That's quite an accolade.
Not sure I'd go that far but he's certainly far too good to think we can sell him and move on without a considerable cost to the teams effectiveness.
He'll never be 100% happy here and will always be pining for a move to Spain though so there comes a time when he will go. After coming so close last season I hoped he'd give us this one to go on and win it. Then he can go where he likes. I still feel that way now.

I hope so. It's ironic but one of the reasons often put forward that last season when discussing if we would be up there again this season was that we'd have a full season with Luis not being affected by a ban. Now it looks like we won't have him at all! GuttingOriginally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostMy biggest fear also. Legacy's are built upon taking opportunities, we didnt take ours.
