Disappointed but perhaps now the rather kneejerk title push fervour from last week can die down to realistic levels - on our day we can beat anyone (particularly in recent form) but we are still lacking in quality personnel and the all important title winning attribute of consistency.
Maybe now we can get back to our rebuilding job and approach the next season without the smothering expectation of Kenny leading us to a title.
I think Champions League is a more sensible goal tbh.

This is a far too rational and thought out explanation. You haven't even identified a player to blame

Today's result just shows that truefan999 was totally correct about appointing Dalglish as permanent manager.

All I can say after reading some of the posts today is that I think Carroll will be a good player for us and he will show what he can do next season when he is back to full fitness and with a few extra creative players in the team. Needing players in the summer is a certainty but I am not going to be annoyed at one poor performance when before Dalglish came in we were sitting in 12th position. The lads can hold their heads up high for finishing this season in style. We've been 2nd best in the league since Dalglish came in and a few setbacks here and there isn't going to change that.

Everyone know that I criticised him many times when he made big mistakes. It is only that he didn't made that many BIG tactical mistakes. How many games did he get totally wrong tactically during his six years after his first learning year?

The criticism was more about that we played to boring and defensive football than about tactical mistakes.

Massive criticism was over the top but he made big mistakes. The same mistake Hodgson made against City and he got slated for that.

KK will make mistakes because he is still learning the game after being out a long time. It will take time to get everything right. He will learn and not make the same mistakes again. If he make the same mistake again and again and again then it is time to get worried.

Today was only one game but he still got it wrong.

That is what I meant. KK simply can't know the squad inside out yet. He will make mistakes because of that. Playing Spearing in a straight 4-4-2 was a big mistake. A mistake that probably cost us the game. Why did he make that mistake? Spearing has played good in the last games so maybe KK thought that he could cope playing in a straight 4-4-2. A mistake and he of course know that he made that mistake and won't make the same mistake again. Spearing won't play again in a straight 4-4-2 IMO, not a chance.

KK is to good manager to make the same big mistake again.

I havent watched all the game yet just the highlights but is it just possible that people had an off day and it was **** all to do with tactics

I think a lot of teams struggle when oppositions do that

Frankly I dont see the relevance between that and 4-4-2 and playing Spearing in the middle in a 4-4-2 system

Webb was a cunt, but we were poor. They defended well, got their wondergoal, got a peno and needed to do not much else other than remain solid. We lacked guile and width, and we played too much with the heart and not enough with the brain.

Wrong system IMO, and Carroll shouldnt have played. Suarez was very hit and miss, and Kuyt/Maxi were ineffective.

oh i wasnt getting involved in the formation or spearing debate. just a more general point about our worst performances this season being when pressed.

His temper and hysterical nature worries me. Love the passion and everything, but you need to control it.
