Is this the first known instance of the Anfield pitch being invaded by a non-Evertonian?.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I see many are venting their frustrations, understandable when it's within reason.
IMO it just didn't happen for us today. I think we also came into a bit too cocky and complacent, we've been on the crest of a wave and Spurs hadn't won in 13 games, and i think we didn't give them enough respect. The first 20 mins we were no existent and Spurs deserved their lead. I thought our midfield got completely bossed today from start to finish.
Our best performers of recent months all had a combined nightmare, Lucas & Spearing where invisible, Maxi after his purple patch went back to the player that can ghost through games, and Kuyt... well he is either brilliant or he is mediocre, there is no inbetween with the guy and unfortunately today he was the latter.
I didn't particularly think Spurs were good, maybe defensively they did well. I think Howard Webb was appalling but thats nothing new. Redknapp got the better of Kenny today, playing King and Crouch nullified any aerial threat we had, we won nothing in the air. Lot of people slagging of Ledley King earlier today, but he is a super defender and marked Carroll out of the game. I don't think we are set up to get the best out of Andy Carroll just yet. It's difficult to say but at the moment with our personnel and Carroll not being fully fit, we are much better without him in the starting 11.
Bit of an anti climax alright, we just didn't turn up today and unfortunately when the pressure was on and we needed to step up and get a result, we bottled it and this is not for the first time in recent years. Also i think it showed how bare our squad is when we were looking to the bench today and we had nothing. Shelvey is so painfully slow it's incredible but early days for him, as for Ngog & Cole well their days are numbered.
But sure not the end of the world, Birmingham have to win against Spurs but once again it's out of our hands. Lousy performance and got what we deserved, what will be will be.
P.S. Don't know if anyone agrees with this about Carroll, but i've noticed that defenders seem to play the man rather than the ball against Carroll when it comes to an aerial battle. Don't know if it's a tactic as Carroll is so good in the air but they seem to target him physically, rather than play the ball. Not saying their fouling him, but more so just putting him off rather than make a play for the ball in the air.
Also, IMO Carroll puts the head down when things aren't going his way. But he is a young man, he has great attributes,he is nowhere near fully fit and has been unlucky with injuries in his LFC thus far. IMO good widemen and players with the ability to get service in from wide areas and an injury free pre season, we'll see a much more dynamic Andy Carroll next season.Last edited by danperkins; 15-05-11, 08:55 PM.

**** me, you don't half talk some ****. KK is learning the game, and you're on here correcting him. Arrogant ****.Originally posted by Arn View PostEveryone know that I criticised him many times when he made big mistakes. It is only that he didn't made that many BIG tactical mistakes. How many games did he get totally wrong tactically during his six years after his first learning year?
The criticism was more about that we played to boring and defensive football than about tactical mistakes.
Massive criticism was over the top but he made big mistakes. The same mistake Hodgson made against City and he got slated for that.
KK will make mistakes because he is still learning the game after being out a long time. It will take time to get everything right. He will learn and not make the same mistakes again. If he make the same mistake again and again and again then it is time to get worried.
Today was only one game but he still got it wrong.
Mods, how do I put this guy on ignore??K ris90210

i didnt watch the match but saw a few things on twitter. thats not a good start to a post is it.
one i saw said that spurs were pressing us high up the pitch. I remember that quite a few of our worst performances this season happened when that was the case.
Its easy to put some of those down to the bodge i just wonder if its because our squad is missing something (which might be me using me belief and then saying the facts support them rather then using the facts to come up with an opinion, if you know what i mean)
whilst arns KK is learning the game might be a bit arrogant is it not possible that he is learning things about the squad rather than the game.
In one way i am almost glad that we lost and it means we as fans dont all think we WILL win the league next year. I hope we do obviously but i would accept 4th as the minimum we want.
it is a bit worrying that from what i have seen we play better without Carroll than with however i didnt ever think he would hit the ground running being injured when signed plus i would hope and think we will sign players who help in terms of delivery and if we do we will probably have quite a flexible squad which will be a good thing

some fair points in there.
Think people have every right to be disappointed. We were coming into this game in brilliant form, and were playing a team that had only won one game in 13 before today. Whilst you can't take anything for granted in footie, a strong Liverpool performance was expected.
Instead we got the opposite - a slow, lazy and sloppy display from virtually the first whistle to the the last.
As for Carroll, i see what your saying bout him putting the head down when things don't go his way. Noticed that vs West Brom and Braga in particular.
Whether he's still not feeling sharp fitness wise or whether he's struggling with the expectations of being a £35m signing,, it's difficult to say. Maybe it's a combination of the two.
That's not a criticism by the way, just an observation. I'm one of Carroll's biggest fans and i'm convinced he'll do the business in the long run.Last edited by Rudo; 15-05-11, 09:28 PM.
