You'd have to read between the lines and maybe conclude he didnt refuse to play, but then he doesnt explicitly state that. Personally he would have been better off telling the truth when Hodgson was in charge as opposed to us being owned by different owners, having a new manager and generally being on the up
No surprise its a former player talking to Tony Barrett either!

Yeah.....he explains that why would he refuse to play against City, by stating that he played against Arsenal (which was what ? 8-9 days before that), so why wouldn't he play against City ?Originally posted by Sarb View PostYou'd have to read between the lines and maybe conclude he didnt refuse to play, but then he doesnt explicitly state that. It's a weak argument Javier, but if you want to state that you didn't refuse to play, that's fine........don't really expect Hodgson or Purslow to give their side of the argument from 4 years back.
Usually, there's three sides to every story....what he said happened, what they said happened, and what really happened."I will make the boys feel your support"

Agreed.Originally posted by Sarb View PostAgreed. But dont really get his timing. This kind of thing really annoys me. Talks about caring for the club, fans etc but 3 or 4 years later its time to put the record straight? Weird.
Dont really believe either side. Time has gone. Should have just left it alone
Thankfully none of the involved are connected to the club, but it does seem weirdly out of the blue for this to come out again.
****-stirrer in me wouldn't mind seeing Hodgson get dragged into some mouthy back-and-forth all the same.......maybe with some face-rubbing."I will make the boys feel your support"

IIRC, this is old news and was already clarified some time ago. I’m guessing it’s been dragged up again now as he’s returning to England and was asked about it, rather than having some hidden agenda as some are insinuating. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think its fairly explicit from that article. He says why would he refuse to play after giving 100% against Arsenal a couple of days earlier, knowing he could get injured in that match.Originally posted by Sarb View PostYou'd have to read between the lines and maybe conclude he didnt refuse to play, but then he doesnt explicitly state that.
I remember a quote from Bodge saying that Mascherano was not in the right state of mind to play. Its a while ago, and the blame can be spread around.
At the end of the day he always says nice thing about Liverpool about his time here (when he does not need to) and always gave us 100%. With all the other **** going on, I am willing to give him the benefit of doubt. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.
