I imagine Gerrard will replace Hendo and we will slowly start to filter Hendo in. IMO Henderson has been bought as a replacement for Gerrard as he begins to be used more sparingly over the next few years.

Either that, or Kenny will continue to play with one striker and Gerrard could replace Kuyt in the role behind? I can see Gerrard scoring a few more this season when he comes back, he will get a lot more service than last season and will be able to get forward a lot more knowing Lucas and Adam will be there if he loses the ball.

I just hope he can stay fit.

But anyway back to Adam, he has really impressed me so far. The fears of him being unable to get his passes off in our team haven't been realized yet, a couple of amazing long balls to Downing and Suarez yesterday. And a good take for his goal. Maybe needs to work on his fitness a little bit but that will come with time. excellent signing

Edit - everyone beat me to it .
The times they are a changin'.

Actually I think Gerrard would be the best option in the squad to play off Carroll, as plan B though obviously, plan A is him and Suarez, plan C is all three of them
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think Kenny really fancy Hendo and if continues to improve with each and every game I'd think that he'll stay in the starting 11 and Kuyt will be dropped.

I was a bit dubious of signing Adam, but I think he's been really good since he arrived. He hasn't got his full range yet, but he's growing in confidence every game. He's winning me over.

Someone pointed out a Gazza similarity - I can see that. Good signing.
By Gazza do you mean Gary McAlister? Surely you don't mean Paul Gascoigne. He is not a fraction of the player that a young Gascoigne was.

On the assumption you mean McAlister. Then I can see that. However, in the very top games can teams carry a quality slow one anymore? That will be the big test.

His passing and vision, free kicks and corners etc are excellent. But as stated before he came he is slow, and pants like a puppy after 55-60 minutes. He looks like he is going to vomit at any moment. Perhaps that's how he gets the space! lol

truecityfan999, you've even stopped disguising your digs at Adam with false praise. Must. Try. Harder.

ps. Good luck today, hope your team wins.

I don't think there is one particular player who will be dropped for Gerrard. One game we'll see Henderson on the bench, one game we'll see Carroll, one game we'll see Lucas/Kuyt (Yes, we'll see). It doesn't matter, they'll all have a part to play.

                      Charlie Adam = Chad

Nope, because if I'm the manager right now, I find it very difficult to leave Lucas out of the team as well.

I'd only even consider putting Lucas on the bench against the weaker teams at home where we dominate possession anyway. Even then it could backfire.

Its funny that the one time we actually have squad depth we are not in Europe and won't be needing to rely on rotation as much. Shame really but I think Gerrard, Adam and Lucas will all play together in the same team as much as possible. It would give good balance much like when we had Alonso and Masch.

I reckon Gerrard's playing time might now be carefully managed, so just like Carroll yesterday he'll play some and be rested for others. The beauty is we now have plenty of options.

Personally I'd never want to see Adam and Gerrard as a central two, unless Gerrard has all of a sudden learned how to sit, track, and play the simply passes.
