I agree that in the long run their might actually be some point in investment. The standards of womens football have improved a lot and the world cup in Germany at least garnered substantial local attention and you could imagine there being some sort of growable market in the US. We are in no way in a position to push this on our own or realistically at this point at all.

Arn, £10M is a large amount of money and nobody with a business brain is going to pump this sort of money into something where currently there's no chance of return on investment.

Sorry but that is my opinion.
It's nothing to do with sexism it's just women's football offers nothing compared to the men's game, they show 1 game a year on TV over here which is the women's FA Cup final usually between Arsenal Ladies and whoever it is that they are playing, think it was Everton Ladies this year and I've seen bigger crowds in my local pub on a Saturday afternoon.

It's not just football though, it's women's sports in general, there is no market for it when compared to the men's, the only time women's sports seems to get a reasonably even playing field is when the Athletics are on and arguably even then they play second fiddle to the men's events
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

As expressed already I think we have bigger issues that need attention than putting money in the womens team right now.

I'm also quite certain that a part of the setup around the club have the task of developing the womens team, and they should be able to do the job.

I know this comes in the wake of the womens world cup, and that Arn is probably up and going with the Sweden team doing well, but financially I see little point in venturing away from our current key product that is not doing as well as it should.

I don't think it has anything to do with sexism but it's a mixture of factors that makes it less attractive to invest in it. And I know that Sweden is probably the only country in the world where men happily declare them self as feminist :P

Firstly mens football is far more developed currently and the product is much better right now.

Secondly mens football is so exposed through tv, radio, papers etc. that it makes little room for womens football to get space. I mean every single day of the week, except Friday, they would have to compete against a PL/CL/EL match or what not from the mens side, so getting viewers and money in it is almost impossible right now.

Thirdly IMO the game does not suite the womens physio all that well, over 90 minutes the womens game gets very slow compared to the men, and it hampers the entertainment in the long run. I think they could do well by adjusting it like they have with tennis, badminton etc. so the games are shorter and more fast paced.

And in terms of excitement and enjoyment women's golf is the equal of the men's game.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

surely this thread is a joke

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The quality of this thread is about as high as the standard of women's football.

I'm with Arn on this one. In fact, I'd reduce the men's budget and shift it to the ladies team.

Long term us men are on the way out, why not make an early start in racking up the titles?

I think that FSG should invest a few millions and make them a top club challenging for the English title and the CL. When they bought the club they also bought our Women team.

They just can give a **** about it.

I also think that it would be good marketing and more female fans would buy merchandise etc.

I know that most you think Women football stinks but I don't agree. You can see many very competitive and excellent games involving excellent players.

Lets give our Women team a chance to show what they can do. Time for FSG to invest a few millions and make them a top club.

Now I have said it. feel free to laugh about it and make fun of me but it is still my opinion. I think they should invest a few millions.
Is this part of your plan to get Rafa Benitez managing Liverpool again, albeit the womens team?
