Perhaps Kenny gave Raul the nod because he hadn't just been on international duty.

There's not really enough room for Raul AND Aquilani. And personally, I'd rather see Raul Meireles make way.

Raul played for Portuguese NT against Luxembourg on Wednesday so that cannot be it.

I think Aquilani can provide that extra spark that Meireles can't. The problem is it seems that Aquilani wants to leave

The only explanation is that we want rid and don't want anything to jeopardize a move.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Going on what we saw pre season, who thinks we'd have won yesterday had Aquilani come on with 20mins to go ?

edit: Ah bugger it anyway, he's off, does'nt want to be here so what can you do.

I don't know if we'd have won if Aquilani would have come on but I think we'd have had an extra creative dimension to the side.

can't disagree with that. did raul touch the ball when he came on? I struggle to see the point of raul.

No problem mate and I strongly agree with your second point that between Raul and Aquilani, Raul should be the one being sold.

He is capable not only getting everybody involved but also deciding the game on his own.

Would be really gutted to see him go as I feel him staying could make a big difference in terms of how far we'll go this year.

Maybe, he's certainly capable but he was ****e against the first decent team we played in pre season aswell so who knows.

I think Meireles is a decent player but I don't think he's really a creative player (despite playing an advanced role last season) and I don't really see many opportunities for him in the side this year.

Well, the point i'm making more is that he's the type of player we need, one that seems to be able to pick a pass better than most, who has the skill to turn away and retain possession and still see a run, or better....instigate a run by playing a ball that makes a player run into the attacking space behind.

We still need that player imo, but he needs to be worthy of a starting place so maybe needs to have more strings to his bow, and i don't think it's Yossi Benayoun either who's been touted for a return, he's more headless chicken type creative imo, where we imo need composed creative, if that makes sense.

I also don't think he's an impact type of a player and using him 15-20 minutes a game will not help us.

The best thing would be to sell him now, when his stock is all time high, and use the money to buy a good, solid striker and/or top notch CB.
