I still don't understand why he is a traitor. Will you call Suarez a traitor when he leaves or any other player that do that?Originally posted by Glenn Hysen View PostWhy keep talking about the traitor? He left and we have the awesome Suarez who wants to be here.
Players leaves. Torres left because we the club had let him down big time. If he wanted to be sure to play in the CL then he had to leave. Ni ifs or buts, he he had to leave. Chelsea made a bid and he most probably knew that if he stayed and got injured again then he may never get the chance to play in the CL again because the top clubs would most probably not be interested and no one could know what plans FSG had and if we would be able to get back to the CL in the next few years.
We got paid excellent money for him and Torres would have stayed if Chelsea hadn't matched the Carroll + £15m we wanted for him. He wouldn't been happy but he would have stayed.
I will NEVER call him a traitor, never. I will always respect his decision because he had the balls to go after his dream and that isn't playing for us, it is winning leagues and the CL, to win trophies.
When we sign a player then he will almost certainly sooner or later leave. It is up to the club to match the winning attitude that the top class players have or they will leave.
We let Torres down much more than he let us down.
I blame Gillett, Hicks and Purslow. They forced us to sell our best players and forced the best players to look for a new club. They had no other option than to leave. Why would they stay at a club that was going down, down, down? Why would they stay at a club that was almost bankrupt?
They don't love the club, they will look at what is best for them.
I voted Suarez by the way.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

More or less every player that sign for us will say the same. Then they will say the same about the club the club they move to.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostTo be fair, Torres did bang on about Liverpool being his club etc. He appeared two faced.
It means nothing that a player say that, nothing. It is what they do on the pitch that counts.
It is all about good PR for the club and the player and more or less nothing about love and passion.Stop the cyberhate

I've already seen the Fowler/Owen Comparison
But I always hated Owen and never took to him. Fowler ruled the roost. A proper no.9
But with this case I rate both of them highly. But would take Torres on Any Given Sunday. Just look at his goals. He was a Proper no.9 when he was with us. Torresss
Saurez is a no.7 and justifying that number. But as a striker/forward. Torres
Torres on fire was unstoppable and had the best defences in Europe ****ting their pants (Inter Milan)
Anyone remember that flick for Gerrard to run on (Chest, control, back heel) against Everton. A focused, free of worries Torres is
I would have loved to see Rafa partner someone up with him.

I was also frustrated and hurt but I understood why he had to leave. If he had been 23 or 24 then the could have afforded to give us say two years to turn things around but he wasn't 23 or 24, he was an injury prone 26, almost 27, year old player. Would a big club been interested in him as a 28 or 29 year old player?Originally posted by Glenn Hysen View PostI hear you. Maybe I'm frustrated cause players sign long lucrative contracts and shortly afterwards they can submit a written transfer request. Traitor was too much but it hurt when he demanded the transfer.
Not a big chance to say the least.
I think that everyone that look at him now can see that he isn't happy at Chelsea. I wild guess is that he regrets his move big time but it was his decision to leave and he will have to live with that the rest of his life. I don't feel sorry for him or anything like that. I hope that he ends up without a trophy at Chelsea. I want us to win all the trophies.
I will always respect what he did for us. He scored a lot of goals for us and thanks to the money we got from Chelsea we took our first step on the way back to the top.
I simply don't care that much what a player say off the pitch now. As I said, it is so much about PR now that you don't know what is the truth or not.Last edited by Arn; 04-09-11, 12:32 AM.Stop the cyberhate

I ****ing loved Torres, truly hurt when the ****er decided to jump ship.
Anyway as you said it was between Torres at his best & Suarez it was too hard to call so I sat on the fence.
Torres at his best was a goal machine and ****ing brilliant, as has already been said it was nice to truly have the worlds best No.9 playing for us.
Suarez is so much more though but at under a season its too early to say.
Together though...jesus....

Plus we would have missed out on great moments in football, like....
