**** it, if we are going to lose I'd rather we do it while playing well rather than the Bodge standard.

Stoke might get the same luck against Man Utd or City but they'll never outplayed them. Upwards and onwards, Spuds are next, I expect us to do a lot better.

670 odd games for the club, arguably the best defender in Europe for several seasons, and you don't get why he's a club legend? I fully agree that his time is running out fast, and his deficiencies as a player have become more obvious as he's hit the wrong side of 30, but there is no need at all to diminish the role he has played for us over the last decade +
Carra is legend and has been a top out-and-out defender

Would he get in one of our greatest ever 11's - probably not imo but thats more a reflection on the quality of some of the other defenders who have played for us rather than playing down Carraghers qualities

Watching the penalty I think it was harsh in fact very harsh and on another day it would have been brushed over because our forwards would have been less profligate
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

If it had been at the other end, with Shawcross doing that to Suarez, i'd be fuming if a peno isnt given.
I've since seen it on MOTD and I stand by my opinion; Walters barge in to Carragher knocks him off balance, it could be argued that if Carragher goes down there, we have a free-kick and it's game-on. Unfortunately, Carragher uses Walters to regain his balance and Walters goes down waaay too easy.

I can appreciate that Carragher putting his arms around Walters' waist can play in to the referee's hand, but I still think it's a soft penalty. Still, it's happened now - what is done, is done.

I couldn't believe it when he pointed to the penalty spot. For a moment my mind couldn't comprehend it. "Why is he pointing, is it a goal kick? That decision just jiggered me. It was a very lame penalty.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

We can complain about Clattenburg as much as we want but in reality we should have won this game with or without poor referring.

We had some top scoring chances and when you don't convert those you really have to put the blame on our shoulders.

Stoke City is the epitome on anti-football team but our ineffectiveness in final third cost us at least a point.

Imo we shouldn't be looking at anybody else but ourselves of why we lost this match.

Soft pelanty, but we would be screaming about it down the other end, so I think it was the right decision.
What annoyed me more is Carra's woeful handling of the situation (wrong side, ball bouncing etc) that led to the concession...............decision like that always has a good chance of been handed to the home side. Can't complain really.

Some fine defending from Stoke as well, credit where its due. We may not like it but we put ourselves in that position in the end. If we cannot overcome situations like that without looking to the ref for help, then we won't be hitting top 4.
Its over and done with, we can take few positives from the game (although out initial high tempo was very encouraging), but we move onto the next one (at least they're gonna try and play some football).

That's fair comment. But Carra didnt go down and then IMO, putting your hand across the striker's waist and exerting physical pressure on him by doing so, whether it's enough to knock him off his feet or not, is surely a foul.

I think that, in fairness, Carra realised that Walters was going to be a shoe-in to score from the chance, and there was an air of desperation about Carragher's challenge.
