Spot on MostarOriginally posted by Mostar View PostWe can complain about Clattenburg as much as we want but in reality we should have won this game with or without poor referring.
We had some top scoring chances and when you don't convert those you really have to put the blame on our shoulders. Stoke City is the epitome on anti-football team but our ineffectiveness in final third cost us at least a point.
Imo we shouldn't be looking at anybody else but ourselves of why we lost this match.

A "SHOO-IN" in fact. No need to thank meOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostThat's fair comment. But Carra didnt go down and then IMO, putting your hand across the striker's waist and exerting physical pressure on him by doing so, whether it's enough to knock him off his feet or not, is surely a foul.
I think that, in fairness, Carra realised that Walters was going to be a shoe-in to score from the chance, and there was an air of desperation about Carragher's challenge.

clattenberg had a shocker but i think he made the correct call against carragher, it wasn't a soft penalty it was a clear foul.
other than that bad luck and poor finishing somehow contributed to us losing a game we thoroughly dominated. if we play like this consistently (domination of possesion, shots on target and time in opposition territory) we will win 99/100 gamesY.N.W.A!!!!!!

No, i will thank you, as your consistent displays of insecurity and ****tish-ness are a constant and welcome source of amusement for me.
I thank you and pity you in equal measures.

The problem is that we only have one goal machine in the squad, Suarez. We need more strikers that could score 20+ league goals a season. We need as you pointed more creative players. We need more players that is difficult to defend against.Originally posted by Mostar View PostWe can complain about Clattenburg as much as we want but in reality we should have won this game with or without poor referring.

Suarez is really the only player that you expect to score clean through on goal. The others should of course score but you know that they could miss.
FSG need to continue to splash the cash. We need Aguero, Dzeko class. Bellamy is good but he isn't a big goal scoring threat. You don't expect him to score more than maybe 10 league goals a season.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

I can see why it's given and I do agree that as soon as you start putting your hands on the attacker, you're playing in to their hands. I think this is more my frustration of footballer's falling over with minimal contact.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThat's fair comment. I would admit to being blinkered when it comes to Liverpool, as I've just been yelling at my TV for Reid going down for the WBA penalty ... but it did look similar to the Lucas penalty at the Emirates last year.
Still think there was more of a 'challenge' on Lucas though!

Unfortunately, Carragher uses Walters to regain his balance and Walters goes down waaay too easy.
I can appreciate that Carragher putting his arms around Walters' waist can play in to the referee's hand, but I still think it's a soft penalty. Still, it's happened now - what is done, is done.
I said the same thing yesterdayThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

True, but part of the problem with football at the moment is that for both 'fouls' Walters on Carragher and then Carragher on Walters the foul would only be given when the the player goes down. As much as I hate diving (or players falling over with minimal contact) is it any wonder players do it?
Walters definately made the most of the contact, won a penalty his side won 1-0, had Carragher done the same, they wouldn't have had a penalty and we'd have got something out of the game. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This is spot on, only ourselves to blame should have been wrapped. Chances were there and we just didn't take them, more points dropped.

...Although it is easier to blame the referee for a poor decision than it is to blame one of our players for missing a good chance

We had chances, and to a lesser or greater extent blew them. I'm not gonna give the old "things even out of a season" cliche because somtimes things 'even out' in less important situations.
We've got to cash in when we dominate and create chances because there will be times when we are under the cosh, defending for most of the game and creating very little when a decision will go against us and cost us the game - these are the most hurtful occassions in terms of being 'robbed', not when we've created good chances and spurned them.
