Downing played well, end of. Unless of course you expect him to be creating chances every two minutes in one of the tightest hard fought games of the season.

I thought Downing did alright tbh. And I agree there's probably more to come from him. He was just as effective as Enrique and a little more than Adam, according to Opta stats....

Don't understand all the Downing criticism, thought he had a good game. Two pinpoint crosses (one for Kuyt was absolutely sublime). If Kuyt had put that away Downing would have had an assist and we'd all be saying he played well.
I also like his support link-up with Enrique as they are very dangerous together down that left hand side. I think as the season goes on Downing will start providing assists and goals.Comment
