That was the only long pass I can remember Adam making all game, he usually attempts numerous long passes.Originally posted by Oberon View PostWho passed the ball to Glen for his goal in the 87th minute?

Long or short, you said he faded yet he still made the game-winning pass in the 87th minute.
Maybe he should fade more often. And immediately after the game kicks off..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Right, so one good pass in the second half means he didn't fade at all and there is no evidence his stamina is suspect ?? OK, gotcha.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostLong or short, you said he faded yet he still made the game-winning pass in the 87th minute.

I think you're guilty of repeating received wisdom. You're hardly the first to be guilty of that.
If Adam faded due to suspect stamina (compared to the norm for Premiership footballers presumably) then you need to account for the fact we won the game with him still on the pitch. I find it hard to comprehend that, despite the fact he was wheezing so badly that he could barely catch his breath and his eyes were almost shut as his autonomous nervous system started to close down all non-essential brain functions, he still managed to see and deliver a perfect long pass.
But then maybe my blindness to subjective reality leads me to make foolish inferences from incontrovertible data..

How long did it take to spot Johnson and make the pass ?? 3/4 seconds ?? Several seconds of quality in a 45 minute half hardly disproves that he faded.
Adam in the first half was excellent but he was very quiet in the second. The fact of the matter is Adam has a history of fading in games. It happened at Blackpool and it's happened numerous times since he came here.

No, it doesn't disprove he faded. But it does contradict it.
As does the fact he wasn't substituted.
As does the fact we won despite the fact we were playing with only ten fit players against, it seems, eleven.
That's quite a bit of contradiction. Almost a pattern in fact.
My point here is that I think Adam's lack of fitness is a "self-evident truth" that no longer fits all the data..

Adam faded in the second half. This time Kenny did something about it. Henderson instead of Bellamy helped Adam big time. We completely lost the midfield in the second half until Kenny made that sub.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostNo, it doesn't disprove he faded. But it does contradict it.

Is that so? Any basis for that assertion?
Do you think maybe Henderson also helped Lucas? Or is only Adam to blame for the midfield being second-best after the break?
And well done to Kenny (who isn't what we need) for keeping a fading Charlie Adam on and completely changing the shape of the front six to accommodate this notoriously poor athlete who can't even run for ninety minutes. I wonder why he did that.
It's monkey logic..

I have been very critical against Kenny and one of the reasons is that he hasn't done anything to help Adam out after 60 minutes or so.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostIs that so? Any basis for that assertion?

He do a hell of a lot of running in the first half. That is one of the big reasons to why we almost always boss the first half. He simply can't do the same amount of running in the second half, that is why he need help.
If he don't get that help and as I said Kenny hasn't given him that help then we fade in the second half and lose the midfield.
Now he got that help and we took control of the game again.Stop the cyberhate
