I'm not saying that, it can't all be down to luck, some of it obviously is but IMO the most significant part of it is poor finishing. We need to put our players though some intense shooting/finishing practice, to improve the players ability in this area. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Some of the better teams have labelled us 'game raisers', seems that is what we are.Originally posted by Gibbo9 View PostThe thing what I can't stand is how we are brilliant against the better teams and terrible against the dross.
This to me makes it seem like a psychological thing.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

poor finishing happens at all teams, what worries me is that we seem to give up after 15mins and the players heads drop and let the oppo in.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI'm not saying that, it can't all be down to luck, some of it obviously is but IMO the most significant part of it is poor finishing. we can dominate the best teams, yet against the ****e teams we seem to slack off and let them in.
I think its more of a confidence thing, sadly lacking._____________________________________

I'm pretty sure Comolli was 'thanked' for the Carroll deal.Originally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View PostSuarez and Coates were Commolli's signings, yes. I don't know if Enrique was.
I'd also suggest the Henderson transfer was Comolli-esque.
As for Adam and Bellamy, perhaps. Enqriue, I have no idea too.

True. The summer transfer window was almost as successful for the players leaving, as for the ones coming in. I do think he has a hit and miss success ratio in his dealings though; granted slightly in favour of 'hit', but he's had his fair share of failures.Originally posted by Baracus View PostSTOP the Comolli bashing! King of the draw

I've been this season against Sunderland, Norwich, City and today. All ****ing draws.
Haven't read the thread yet - too depressed. For the first time I can remember I left before full-time today. I did it because I thought "I'm so unlucky that if I leave we'll score". I left on 92 minutes, heard a couple of big oohs but obviously we didn't score.
Dunno if it's been mentioned (apologies if it's already been discussed) but Suarez's two poorest performances - possibly his only two poor performances for us - have been since the verdict, Wigan and today. Can't be a coincidence, can it?
Random thoughts:
Andy Carroll seemed to be sporting a black eye? Again I felt sorry for him today. The goal he had disallowed *really* got him down. Mouthing at the ref - out of pure desperation - for ages afterwards, and slumped shoulders. He looks so depressed playing for us, it's hard work watching him.
Downing - dear God. A small section of the Kop chanted "there's only one Stewart Downing" at one point in the 2nd half, clearly in a bid to lift his confidence, but it didn't work. He looks miles out of his depth. Twice Suarez berated him and I lost count of the number of times Enrique looked at him in despair, bemusement or both. Downing never said anything back to either, he just hung his head. He's another who is painful to watch at the moment. Hate seeing blokes struggling and so obviously out of their depth in any walk of life, but when they're in a Red shirt and they cost £55m between them then it's really ****ing painful.
These hideous home draws against muck - far worse now than it ever was under Rafa (and it was one of the biggest criticisms of his time) - put so much pressure on us to get results away from home. We'd handled it well but the last two - Fulham and Wigan away - tells us we won't get away with it all season.
I heard Kenny said he was happy with the performance?

Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

If we didn't make champions league we can only hope that the likes of Enrique, Suarez and Reina won't be wanting away from the club. Its important to hold on to our best players if we want any kind of challenge for the Top 4.Originally posted by Mostar View PostWe are lacking quality in few areas and that needs to be addressed right away.
If not, I cannot see us getting any better in terms of point production and imo Europa League is the best we can expect this season.

I think our poor finishing is probably worse than most other teams in the league, we create a hell of alot of chances but our conversion rate is awful, we had 22 attempts on goal today and scored 1 goal.Originally posted by red g View Postpoor finishing happens at all teams, what worries me is that we seem to give up after 15mins and the players heads drop and let the oppo in.

I agree that our heads drop early on in games if we don't go ahead, usually this is because we've typically started well and already missed some good chances in the first 20-30mins, I'm not sure if the effect is psychological and that affects us later in the game or what. I wonder if that is because we lack the experienced players with calm heads who have been there and done it all before, I mentioned it briefly in the Kuyt thread but of the team that had that great come back spirit when we finsihed 2nd in 08-09 we only have 4 of those regular starters of that era in the squad (Reina, Carragher, Gerrard and Kuyt) recently non of those outfield players have been involved in the first team, our current 'experienced players' don't have the same level of experience to help out in those situations, our longer serving (outfield regular players) are the likes of Agger, Skrtel and Lucas have never played regularly in the Champions League for us or don't have seasons and seasons of experience playing week in week out in the premiership. Or we have the likes of Adam, Downing and Enrique who have been around the game for a while, but have no real experience of dealing with the pressures associated with playing at a club like Liverpool, they are still settling in themselves. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
