mate not having a go, but the balance excuse is a complete cop out, and is another way of saying he has done nothing. He has been poor, no excuses. Needs to get more involved and stuck in.

Downing has the beating of Taylor no doubts, poor defender and carrying a knock, but Maxi's runs behind the backline are the best part of his game IMO, and he is just as quick as Downing, Taylor is a snail. Downing has had 3 great chances to get ball in, and end product not there but his approach play has been decent to be fair.

IMO if nothing is doing Maxi and Gerrard on.

Maxi is nowhere near as quick as Downing. Maybe he's quicker in the mind, but not physically when it comes to pace. Not even close.

He played 25 minutes against Blackburn so I would expect to see him play more especially if we don't take the lead early in the second half.

We were ok albeit creating less chances than we normally do. Can't be battering teams every game. I thing it's a psychological thing atm.

Carroll is mystifying. We all thought his strength was going to be getting on the end of crosses, but I can't understamd how he managed to get his reputation on what he's doing for us - he isn't even there to score the goals let alone miss chances provided for him. I don't understand Andy Carroll, I really don't.

His free kicks and corners have been disappointing.

Only Stevie and Bellamy should be allowed to take those.

For someone who came with a rep as a set piece specialist his corners especially have been surprisingly ****e.

He doesn't convince me at all. He had a run of good games a few weeks ago but that was about it for me.

Got to laugh at Cole and Redknapp saying "just get the ball on Andy's head"...........as if it's our delivery is the only possible explanation for him not delivering so far.

They're spot on for me. What actual chances have we created for him? None whatsoever. Most of our crosses have either been low, or nowhere near him.

I'll acknowledge he needs to get in the 6 yard box more often, but we certainly arent playing to his strengths whatsoever. Outside of that, all he can do is try to link up the play and work hard - and he has done both.

I think it's partly psychological. It's also part lack of agression and pace in the team. We look so slow to react to breaking balls. Our midfield is far too ponderous.

He's had a shocker and his positioning for a CF is wayward, to say the least. Even if Downign delivery was better sure Carroll ain't nowhere to be seen anyways.

He's been disappointment today.

He is so shaky on his feet especially in the box that even slightest nudge takes him out of balance.

Needs to surge in that ****in' 5 yard box and doesn't move until the play completely unfolds.

I hate see him so far out on the back post waiting to for "fluffy" crosses to come.

The way he plays today he won't score.
