Downing I'd agreeOriginally posted by Arn View PostI would sell Carroll and Downing as soon as possible. Just admit that they don't suit us and isn't good enough in our system.
They may be excellent playing in another system but I doubt that they will deliver playing for us.
Wrong club at the wrong time for both of them.
Carroll I would wait and see what we get out of him with a fully fit Gerrard firing on all cylinders
Newcastle gave us glimpses of what type of service Carroll could get from Gerrard
Downing has done it a handful of times this season (Swansea - great ball for Carroll) and his early form was ok, but hes been shocking since then and in the last half dozen games hes been absolutely diabolicalBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. He won 3 league titles and 2 FA Cups when he took over from FaganOriginally posted by KingKenny77 View PostWhat since he took over as our manager in January 2011? That's impossible.
Rafa won the Champions League (which Kenny couldnt enter) an FA Cup and got to another Champions League final

Our passing has improved a lot this season and I really believe we are a few players short of a genuine title winning team.Originally posted by KingKenny77 View PostI hope Rafa comes back and finishes what he started with another Istanbul, because I certainly don't think King Kenny will bring those days back to Anfield.
Our defence is excellent but we are too light up front. At this very moment I would love to see Torres come back. I've maybe been watching too many past videos but he loved this club and he was an amazing player.
Some players take time. Look how **** we all thought Lucas was when he started. Nani was crap for Man Utd and Micah Richards for Man City.
Give the players time and with a few additions we'll be right up there. Was muß, das muß.

I agree, I would love nothing more than to see Carroll succeed but the fact is, we play much better without him.
If we want to follow the pass and move philosophy, that was so successful last season under Kenny, then we need a different style of striker to partner Suarez.
We need players with great movement, quick feet and technical ability. Carroll, though I've no doubt can be a good player, doesn't possess these qualities.

I don't think there is a worse game for Reina to 'chuck one in' early on.
We looked like we our tactics were going to be to stay solid and look to steal a 1 nil lead, and then probably sit in a bit and defend it using Carroll as an out. Not the best tactics ever but I think when you are taking on a team like City away with there squad you have to prepare to defend. The early goal killed us.
On top of that Downings miss was ****ing, brutally disappointing. The lad lacks confidence and doesn't appear comfortable in a red shirt. He is so afraid of making a mistake he basically does **** all, he should have scored though. Drilled it low or aimed it high, but he made it an easyish save for Hart. Then Reina chucked one in. And then the tactics are out the window.
We have a stronger squad but it now needs more quality. We cannot afford to be without Lucas, Gerrard and Suarez. Kuyt looks like he has lost that ability to grab a goal too.
Big plus for me was Henderson looks like he can develop into quite a player. Other than Downing being poor, I think Adam looks a bit burnt out, and could do with a rest, his previously decent performances fading slightly.Last edited by Buzzo; 04-01-12, 12:29 AM.Modifying post.

Bad match. Pepe error, set play and a dubious peno.
We had plenty of possession but lacked penetration. Suarez was badly missed and will be. Bellamy improved things but teams will let us play in front of them happily.
Some players look jaded. Cup games coming at a good time.*************************

Time will tell no doubt. I'm just frustrated about the Suarez situation and yet another poor result just has made my blood boil. This feels worse than a rejection by Susan Boyle.

Depends what sort of price we could get for Carroll. If we could get 20 million, I'd say take it. Otherwise it's worth persevering simply because he does have so much potential. He *could* still come good.Originally posted by Lecter View PostDowning I'd agree
