Yes our passing is better this year compared to the first part of the season before but I disagree that we being more adventurous would resolve those problems.
We tried that many times including today especially in the second half but we are not nearly good enough to win these tight difficult types of matches even when we push forward.
To me that issue is lack of quality in few areas and I think we'll see inconstancies in terms of results and performances to continue until we address that on permanent basis.
Sending crosses in with only one man in the box will not get the job done. We have to CONSISTENTLY get more men in the box to put the opposition under more pressure. With more men in the box there is less pressure on the crosser to put in the perfect cross that misses out 4 defenders.
It's not the only part of the solution, but it's a significant part.
Has Adam's form dropped? I didn't ever think he was doing particularly well in the first place. He's not been great, but not dog**** either.
It's a fair point, I was just trying to guage opinion; was he looking pretty good when part of a side that was creating chances and playing relatively well and was that because of him?
I think he's looked out-of-sorts recently and I can't quite put my finger on why. It does definitely coincide with Gerrard's return though.
We do need some fresh faces, how much could we nick Steven Fletcher for?
Just someone who can score a ****ing goal.
It wouldn't have made a difference today as we created nothing. I think we need creative players as well.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
We obviously have problems creating things against teams that come to get men behind the ball and defend. For me in these games we need to come from the start playing at a high tempo, play the ball about quickly, one and two touch passing, move players around, run off the ball and play quick little one-twos to create space. For me we don't do this anywhere near often enough, and it was evident today.
I don't think its a coincidence that we play better against the better teams, because they are more adventurous going forward and play in a similar style to us.
I think our team is best suited to the counter attack, which is why we struggle getting round teams that play 10 behind the ball.
well i say it ....dalglish will imo get one more season and not alot of money to show real progress if we don't get champions league by the end of next season the owners will look for a new manager...... annoying thing is we were within touching distance of top 3 had we converted our many chances this season
Well if that is the case may resign right now cause if they don't provide him the budget to improve few key positions (hopefully this window rather than in summer) there is no way he'll make into CL this or next year with this squad.
The lack of technical ability throughout the side is what worries me the most. Kuyt, Adam, Downing, Carroll..it's just not good enough. Fair enough they may have wanted out, but both Meireles and Aquilani are quality on the ball and they haven't been replaced adequately imo. We have zero link players, Maxi aside. We just plod our way to the final third then look utterly clueless
Technically all the players look much more fluent under Kenny, and I think that's down to the training. Under Rafa we were far more regimented, we just had players like Gerrard and Torres that could do a bit of magic and pull the some goals out of the hat for us. No way I'd want to go back to the Rafa style of play.
Our whole set up was designed to create space for Gerrard and Torres..our two best players. We had a system and it worked. We may look more fluent now but it's not as effective is it? Our players aren't good enough to play the way Kenny wants
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish explains his side's 5-4-1 formation in their drab draw with Stoke: "That change in formation was to do with what we had at our disposal. Daniel Agger has an injury we need to manage so it was forced on us a bit." And on the Reds' failure to break down the Potters: "We had plenty of possession but we need a wee bit more of an attacking edge up front. If you get an opening you need to take your chances and we could have been a little bit more creative with our possession."

Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
I'm thinking more our whole situation. Rather than this one game.
Fair enough

We lined up with three centre-backs to occupy Crouch, even Walters went wide right when they looked to attack meaning Skrtel and Coates took it in turns to bring the ball out of defence.
Surely, the extra (extra) centre back was not needed and when we looked to bring Carroll on, we should have left Downing on to provide (hopefully) some sort of service for Carroll and taken off a defender (Carragher)?
I actually thought there was more chance of Skrtel creating a goal scoring chance or scoring a goal than Downing. That pass in the first half was better than anything I have seen Downing do this season.

We didn't do that in the first half but we definitely tried it in the second half after Carroll came in and we still couldn't create one quaility goal.
To me it is much deeper issue that will not be resolved with our current squad no matter what formation or tactics we deploy.
Complete rubbish im afraid to say Kenny. If Agger is injured then bring in Carra. Whats difficult about that? How does that explain the reasoning behind Kuyt as a lone striker and not one other player attacking the box?
