If anybody is going to be sent to the shooting gallery then it has to be Comolli, wtf does he do/has done?Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostComolli should in no way get off scot free for the debacle of a recruitment drive.
Its a ****ing scatter gun approach, and if his main objective is to bring players in, should anything happen in relation to a Kenny departure, then he should go too.
Treat a legend like Kenny **** or boot Comolli - there's only one logical choice. We come not to play.

Don't get me wrong, it was nowhere near mutinous as it was near the end of Hodgson's reign of terror. But all the same it wasn't pleasant. Very negative and subdued, we started poorly and got worse, and as such the crowd got more and more on the players' backs as it went on. Grim.Originally posted by Eric Swindler View PostWell if that's the case you'd have to really fear for Kenny

Aye. What I heard too from people there.
As for the poll, welll most here know how much I love Rafa & would crawl down the Mersey at the bottom of my garden in Mancland all the way to Liverpool to have him back. BUT, whilst I don't have real faith in KK & Comoli to get this right, I think the former deserves another full season to see how it works out. He's been out of the game a long time & deserves a bit of time, regardless of his legend status.
It's unlikely I'll be excited by our summer purchases, but if they do the job the next season, then fair play- not everything has to be done in the way I see as best. If it doesn't work then, Rafa it is. He should never have been got rid of in the 1st place, so for me "going back" is just righting wrongs. If there are factions of supporters & those within the club that dint like it, un-****ing-lucky.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Maybe it's as simple as the old fashioned idea that you can't have a Director of Football and a manager - that division of responsibility is going to fail. And the way it's failing for us is on the pitch i.e. noone wants to start a public scrap about who's in charge cos we've just come out of a few years of that with Rafa vs the cunts. So everyone puts on their best Liverpool scarf and hat for the public but really maybe Kenny is fielding players he never really wanted or Kenny is refusing/can't enforce the vision of football that Comolli has (although now that I've written that, it seems a ludicrous notion) or the players that we have are a result of compromise and horse trading between two men striving to be the real boss.
I was always worried about Kenny coming back and I was equally worried about the appointment of Comolli and the whole director of football thing. But maybe what it all looks like is genuinely a team in transition. It's hardly going to look pretty and obviously we're going to have a bad patch - the "blip" that the top teams have at some stage where they're drawing the kind of matches they were winning and losing shockingly - except when you're nearly midtable like we are the "blip" looks horrific.
Or maybe this is what happens to midtable teams every season and the players we have are no better than midtable journeymen with a big useless lump up front, one erratic world class player in Suarez, one fading local hero in Gerrard and a past it local legend in Carra.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

Totally, absolutely and utterly agreeOriginally posted by Imy View PostIf anybody is going to be sent to the shooting gallery then it has to be Comolli, wtf does he do/has done?
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I think there is something wrong with our scouting setup which is much deeper than just Commoli. Over the last 12 years we have been absolutely clueless about buying good quality attacking players. Look at our success rate it is bizarrely low and this is over three managers now.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostTotally, absolutely and utterly agree

I can sort of understand that, but if the players we've bought are doing less than they were for the smaller sides we bought them off, is that really down to Commolli ?Originally posted by rcasemore View PostSeems to have dropped off the radar as of late and for me I really think he should be under as much if not more pressure than Kenny.
Whether they'll be long term successes is another thing, but right now, Kenny is unable to even get them performing to the level they did for the sides we bought them off, and that cannot be down to Commolli. imo.
Lack of goals has blighted our season to a horrific extent.

Smicer? Rafa had him for one season.Originally posted by baitman View Postthere is no doubting that rafa has been a great manager with us, but has also had his very annoying, frustrating periods. he steadfastly played baros when he couldnt score in a brothel. smicer too. several other players were favourites, despite form or effort. his constant tinkering, just to prove he is a genius football mystic, oh per-lease
his involvement with the politics of ownership was a very difficult period. i dont doubt it would have been incredibly difficult for him to keep things private and just keep his mind on team affairs. maybe if he had he would still have been there. who knows, now...
although i would be inclined to give kenny more time, unfortunately i just dont see him showing any flair or enthusiasm for the job, little motivation of the players, or any tactical understanding.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

The thing about scouting is that the majority of us would have said that the players we signed in the last transfer window (bar a couple) were not good enough, no science involved just watching the premiership regularly.Originally posted by peekay View PostI think there is something wrong with our scouting setup which is much deeper than just Commoli. Football is now available wall to wall, you can watch all manner of leagues without even leaving your front room. Opinions on players can be found via various football blogs or even simply google.
Most of us know of players who are far better than the dross signed.
How can it be difficult? We come not to play.

CL aside one of the most frustrating players to have turned out for us, just shades Downing in who is the most frustrating to watch.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostAnd he definitely wasn't one of Rafa's favourites.
Hardly ever picked him then flogged him the next summer
We come not to play.
