We were very inexperienced in what was probably the key area of the pitch. Centre mid and centre back are the two positions you need experienced heads in situations like that.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

whilst true, it doesn't really address the question.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostIf we replace Kenny, we'll have had 4 managers in 3 years.
And seeing as you wanted both Hodgson and Rafa gone, I assume its just Kenny that would push things too far.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

with the right manager, yes. With the wrong one, quite the opposite. Still boils down to getting who think is the right manager in place imo.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostDo you not see a correlation between continuity and success?Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

of course which is why i have said kenny next season but he and the team and any players signed have to gel from the start ....... take away the cup finals and the tired old excuse about hitting the woodwork we have been close to relegation fodder.....why is that ? players not good enough? needing time to settleOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostDo you not see a correlation between continuity and success?
shouldn't do .......not listening or having respect for the manager ? next season could well be the most defining for our club and wether we get back to the top 4 or become the new aston villa

but, bar a club like chelsea who seem to have a fixation, i think you could argue that such clubs have a problem with their hiring process, and just bring in any old new guy when they need a bounce to avoid relegation. as for us, since rafa we've had roy and kenny--arguably neither of whom were the right man for the club. nobody wants to keep changing managers, but in order for that to happen you have to hire the right guy first. if we wind up changing managers, and we have every reason to think it might be a good idea, then the concern would be that we change the way we've been hiring and get someone in who can actually stop the rot.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI'll give you constructive: clubs which change managers every year or 18 months are very very very rarely successful.

Concluding that the manager is the 'wrong' manager after just one full season, is incredibly short-termist, foolhardy and Chelsea-like. Even more so when he's delivered a trophy.

I think we're on course for a not too dissimilar amount of points to what we got in both Rafa and Houllier's first seasons, the difference is the league is stronger and it means the same number of points will see you finish lower down the league.
Like it or not we were probably in a worse position when Kenny came in than when either of those two came in, but IMO we are playing better football than we did in both of those seasons. The difference is our expectations have increased because under Rafa we were in the CL every season. We are in a period of transition, I don't think if we sack Kenny things will suddenly turn around. The only concerns I have are that the form has suddenly dropped so much in the second half of the season and the fact we don't have a settled system yet.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I keep seeing people saying "take away the...." and i dont get it. Cherry-picking the bits you want to use and ignoring others smacks of agenda-driven viewpoints.Originally posted by Bender View Postof course which is why i have said kenny next season but he and the team and any players signed have to gel from the start ....... take away the cup finals and the tired old excuse about hitting the woodwork we have been close to relegation fodder.....why is that ? players not good enough? needing time to settle

How much credence would it have if i said "take away the league campaign, and we've done brilliantly" ? None.
You count it all, not just the bits which suit.
