No other manager with a comparable record in the world would be ignored for the position apart from him. This is a business decision and there is no room for sentiment in business. FSG need to take other people's personal opinions of Rafa out of the equation and look at his CV.

It's grossly negligent of them not to at least consider him for the job given his qualifications.

It is perfectly possible that they think he can't work with a DoF which they might see as a key element of having a unified club philosophy going forward. Obviously he would have been top of my list but there are logical reasons others might omit him.

That said I remain sceptical that anyone has much of an inside track on this. Although it is reasonable to assume that Ballague has talked to Rafa I suppose. I don't think FSG will go for Rafa but equally I think Rafa sometimes uses Ballague rather than giving him the straight story.

I haven't seen evidence of a shortlist of 12 - only rumours and I'm not particularly inclined to give journalists the benefit of the doubt on the veracity of their speculations.

Taking aside whether FSG think he should be interviewed for the job itself.. or not. I'd be amazed if they didn't just talk to the guy... understand how it worked when he was manager, what he would have done differently, his views from the outside looking in over the last 18 months/24 months, our weaknesses, strengths, competitor analysis, have a go of his new app... etc..

Last point aside and apart from Kenny's cup runs, who else in recent memory knows how to make the club winners...??
