**** anything that Lampard says, I wouldn't believe him as far as I could lob one of his pies. He's part of the problem at Chelsea - not the solution - and him criticising a former manager just proves that.

Funny how his Porto players would seemingly jump on a live grenade for him while Chelsea were quick to throw him under the bus.

The way I see it - he failed because he dropped the senior players, they didn't like it and complained to Roman. He hasn't got the balls to back a manager and it's easier and cheaper to sack him that Lampard, Terry, Cole and Drogba.

It's not just that Porto won the league - it's that they absolutely destroyed it.

Its not entirely on Evans though, how did you get that? Its on his lack of experience, his reputation which is based on Porto for one season who'd won the league 4 out the last 5 seasons anyway, Lampards comments that he couldn't instil confidence in his players ( a must have for us) and the results at Chelsea followed by the results as soon as Di Matteo took over.

I think so many people were looking for the new Mourinho that when this new Portugese guy came along people jumped on it before he had a chance to prove himself and its all gone to his head.

Well maybe getting the snip when he was at Chelsea may have given him some perspective and much needed humility.

I think AVB would be good (I actually think Martinez would be too but i worry about the more militant element of our support chucking pelters at him from day one). Our squad is far better equipped to deal with his style of footy than Chelseas was and, for me, the real concern is the issues around Carra and Stevie.

And I can understand why he was vexed there too. I'd have been pissed as well if i'd been brought in on the platform of prgression and moving the club forward only to be hung out to dry by the owner and board in favour of the old guard you'd been brought in to shift

Lampard is bound to be a moaning bitch because he was on the bench, show me a player that is instilled with confidence when they're dropped to the bench and that comment will mean something to me.

Neither of those 2 people should be the reason or basis for disliking or not wanting AVB, we're all big boys, we can form an opinion without someone else telling us their bias ones.

I dont think it's a simple case of managers turning us down flat.

They are turning down an interview, not an actual job offer..and as Chris said, why would you rock the boat at your present club, when you may not actually get the position anyway..

also, it might be that they weren't happy with certain aspects of the position, i.e. wages, decision making, transfer budget, staff etc..

Whoever it is that they bring in, will divide the fans whatever..

Which proves we're doing things the wrong way! Good managers in decent jobs won't bother even interviewing, we're shooting ourselves in the foot.
