Brian McBride could have been our Clint Dempsey.

Anyway Lec has clearly indicated he'll back you if it comes down to a straight choice between you and Martinez. So that's two votes already.

Of course I hope your backroom team will include Ballbag and Sausage.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Well at least happy enough to employ him

I'm sorry but I dont see Martinez as a good appointment irrespective of his style of play and how happy FSG may or may not be with his tactics
i didnt see martinez as the answer either but there is something about him.

Its all speculation and conjuncture as to whether he could handle a bigger club or much higher expectations. We're never going to find out unless he takes charge of a top six club.

We shall see I guess. But as stated I'll be worried in a Hodgsonesque way if we appoint Martinez.

I'll be worried too, especially if they turn down managers of a higher calibre in preference to Roberto but I'm not as worried as I was a few days ago.

Gargantuan Bellend would be a fine conditioning coach. He could get the players to go make the kangaroo mimic anywhere.

I don't know this La Puta lady. Who is she?

It would be better if he proved it elsewhere then came to us on the back of guiding villa to top 6 or similar.

But then I really don't want AVB either just to much **** flying about to what an arsehole he is and he is miserable as ****, but he has a proven winner and could attract big names, Where as the biggest name Martinez could attract is Jean André Emanuel Beausejour Coliqueo and has a premier league manager of the month award to his name

I'm trying to convince myself on Martinez as I'm still sure it will be him.

                          Anyway, here's an interesting read...

My worry is two fold #
                            1) his managerial ability at a top club never tested
                            2) if we get him it willl show our ambition and will probably be backed up with a 10-20million transfer fund.

i do not understand this idea that there will be qa reduced transfer budget. if we have x amount of money to spend and an overhaul of the side to come that will add to it, surely their idea is to hire someone that they trust to spend what we have, rather than adjusting what we have to who ever we get to manage the club. that seems backwards.

Good post. I'd say the transfer budget is pretty much set in stone and it would be paranoia to assume it's alterable based on which manager we select. There's no real logic to doing that. If you doubted them that much why hire them in the first place? Besides it will be the DoF that really pulls the strings going forward in terms of signings by the sounds of things anyway.
