    very much so.

And there is alot of skepticism with this appointment & so much at stake that he will really have to perform miracles. I'd love for him to succeed if he got the job, but i can't help feeling bit underwhelmed & negative about the whole thing.

P.S. A few top signings may ease the pressure

I don't see that at all. Martinez is young and unproven, but Hodgson had failed to achieve anything in a 30 year career and was a complete pillock. There are about a million differences between them, and one similarity; the majority of LFC fans would seemingly rather have Rafa instead.

Personally I think this is overestimating the pull of a manager. If Martinez comes in and impresses them, if we make good buys and if the team starts the season with good tactics and a winning mentality, then I think all those players (assuming they already don't want out) would stick. If Reina didn't leave when Rafa was replaced with Hodgson then why would he now?

And as for players coming, seriously though, Liverpool Football Club will remain a big enough draw for enough players regardless of who is in charge. In this day and age, when at some clubs it isn't even the manager who buys the players, I hardly see the manager as being that big a factor in most players decisions. Maybe an exceptional one can make a difference in some places but thinking nobody would want to sign for us with a Martinez in charge is just a touch ridiculous.

Not saying I necessarily think Martinez is the best possible manager for Liverpool, but some of this sort of doom & gloom over his potential appointment is quite unnecessary.

Yes, of course. Why wouldn't they? Would they have been happy if things hadn't changed? Would they have been happier to continue with things as they were?

I would imagine our players would be more apprehensive if AVB takes over the manager's role than if the job is offered to Martinez. This could be a master-stroke or it could be a disaster. I'd rather wait and see what happens before complaining. It was pretty obvious that Hodgson was the wrong man for the job, I think Martinez has enough about him to be a success.
Theres been very few negative comments from the players in response to Kenny going most have expressed sadness at him leaving. Kuyt being the obvious exception

Contrast that to the last few managers and when they have gone there has been a wall of silence or more negative comments leaked

I dont think players will exit just because Martinez is or isnt appointed, the same with AVB

It doesnt even look like they have spoken to him
Quite frankly there's no point. Rafa under a director of football with little control over signings wouldn't work. It'll be like having him manage with one arm behind his back. It was bad enough for kenny having to work with comolli but this new set up that is being mooted is worse. I don't want rafa but to be fair to the guy if he came back he'd rightly want and require total control. Even if he accepted to work within these confines itd be a matter of time before he started flexing his muscles and causing aggro.

Maybe if this charade fails they'll tear up the rule book and he could yet come back.

As it stands kenny should still be in the hotseat.

It's quite possible that he will keep the core of our best players, get good money to invest, get the team playing exciting positive football and we hit the new season running. Unless it turns in to a complete **** up (which I don't think would happen) then the only way is up.

Chin up mate, it's going to work out nicely whatever happens and I honestly believe that.

Those comparing Hodgson to Martinez...honestly I won't even waste my breath.

I respect your optimism mate and if Martinez is the man FSG pick, well i'll support him & hope that he and FSG can pull something massive out of the bag...... because frankly we really need it.

Hodgson was an incompetent manager and a ****. Martinez is no Hodgson but there are serious concerns about him. It could work but there are too many ifs and buts for people NOT to be worried.
                        Are we winning?

Kenny is a great man, nobody was jumping for joy at his departure. I wish things had worked out for him and us, but unfortunately it didn't happen. Now we need to move forward and hope things improve, which I am confident they will. Whoever takes over next needs our support.

We've had some loons comparing Kenny to Hodgson

Martinez's football is more attacking than Roys no doubt about that

We'll obviously see how good Martinez is or isnt if hes appointed

I think its an enormous gamble frankly and we might have been better sticking with what we had

Personally, I'll be indifferent if Martinez is appointed. No record to get excited about, but I think he's a bright and likeable guy with plenty of potential. My negativity or positivity this summer will mainly be influenced by which players we bring in.
