Out of interest, how exactly could it "all go pear shaped in an instant"? I think that's slight hyperbole there Fredo. The danger imo with someone like Rodgers is that we don't start well next season, sections of the fanbase & the media won't want to give him proper time. I'd like to think LFC fans are above expecting instant success, but lets face it, a lot of us aren't any more than any other fans. However, I still do expect it to take a bit longer than "an instant" for it to go sour.

We were closer to relegation than the top last season. The pressure will be immense from the off and I don't think he'll be prepared for that. No, don't think it's hyperbole.

I have to be honest and say I am considerably underwhelmed by this appointment. Of course I will be supportive of the team and not critical without reason but I can't say I'll be anticipating much for next season.

I cannot see anything positive in his signing. Like everything else related to LFC I want him to succeeed as that will mean happy days for me and all other reds fans,BUT I don't think he will. He lacks experience at this level and not so sure the players will take to him. just to recap before all the Rodgers rangers get on my back I HOPE HE DOES WELL.

i think FSG will be very careful about investment in players this summer. Clearly one of the positive parts of Rodgers would have been how he has got so much out of a low calibre of player when at Swansea. They will be hoping he can have a similar effect on the team we have now without spending too much more money. I think they will be cautious with their money, sit back and see how Rodgers does early doors and gradually increase his budget if he requires it.

Why unfortunately? If he can get the most out of a player, with spending limited money, and still achieve success, where is the problem?

If Rodgers doesnt make the right signings the rumblings will start

If he doesnt hit the ground running certain sections of the support will be on his back

Why unfortunately? If he can get the most out of a player, with spending limited money, and still achieve success, where is the problem?

Because by using that financial model, we might qualify for the Champions League eventually, but we will never get a realistic chance to win the Premier League or the Champions League ... The worst possible scenario ...

The key is investment as other clubs are spending more. It's harder to achieve a winning team on a limited budget than try to stay affloat in the PL. We've been plateauing to this level for a long time.

Nope not at all, I was arguing the opposite that is winning things is as important.

A while ago, but for the last 4 years they have lost there best player every season. Looks like RVP will go too.

I understand that if they spent big these players might have stayed. But id much rather the club live within its means, and not rely on FSG for the money.

FSG came into the Premier League because they wanted to win, they have done that in whatever sport they enter.

I don't see why it would be different here. Also, Ill say this now. Id rather play lovely football, picking up a cup here or there for the next 10 years, than throwing all the money in the world at a load of mercenaries who will create nothing for me to love.

Ultimately I want us to win the league, but the right way. Its much more satisfying when it happens. Look at Montpellier
