I'd prefer him to have that as an opening Aug/Sept than maybe Southampton, Fulham, Wigan etc..Originally posted by el matador View PostThats a really tough start for rodgers. Very unlucky because he was probably hoping for an easy one.
There has to be some positives in getting Arsenal, City and United at Home so early on..
We'll be an unknown quantity..
New players, New format..

Arsenal, Us, Fulham and West Brom - so that isnt true.Originally posted by red g View PostCity only have 1 team from last years top 10 to play in the first 10 games apparently.
Originally posted by Shanks View PostI'd prefer him to have that as an opening Aug/Sept than maybe Southampton, Fulham, Wigan etc..I'm very much in the prefer to get them out the way first camp. The players are going to need time to adapt and I'd rather they get to know his system and methods dropping points against very beatable players and then have hard ga\mes to go anyway. Could end up with very few points.Originally posted by Imy View PostA nice easy start would have been good, get a run going and get the confidence up.
Get the hard games out the way early while learning and then you would hope that they are on the ball by the time it comes to playing the 'lesser' teams
By Jove he's right!!!Originally posted by Liverpel View PostI think this fixture list shows that we will play each team at some point during the season.
Twice.

So no one will know what were doing and we might surprise a few people.

As Lenny says, we all know what we're doing; the question is, is it an appropriate reaction to the situation?.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

This is my annual Post:
draw a line in the sand and, starting next season, all of the teams that played away on opening day this season, open at home the next. Promoted teams take relegated teams slots, the opposite of the previous year's opening fixture-- Bolton were away, so one of the teams get a home opener in 2012/13, etc.
It only makes sense to rotate and give fans a home opener every other year."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr

Unfortunately football does the opposite of what's logical - that is why it won't be the most popular sport in the world for much longer imo unless a lot of things change. American sports, although not great (except basketball), are brilliant in terms of the rules & the way are run. Football is run by idiots with a lot of idiotic rules imo...Originally posted by BrooklynRed View PostThis is my annual Post:

IPL cricket is the 2nd most viewed sporting event after the football World Cup - so things are already changing...Originally posted by rcasemore View PostFootball is by the far the most popular sport globally and that won't change & certainly not in favour of US sports, the only real challengers are cricket & hockey
I'm not saying it will be a US sport, I'm saying football should look at certain aspects of US sport (especially basketball) in order to evolve, that's all...Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

But the rules of basketball are FAR superior to football. Like rolling subs, clock stops when the game stops, 3 refs instead of 1, can't go back into your half once you've moved into the opponent's & a free-throw (like a penalty in football) after a player has committed a certain amount of fouls, etc...Originally posted by Mattshark View PostYeah but basketball is ****.Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!
