RE Our game v Spurs. Are any of our big names expected to play? I think Borini was mentioned as a possible starter but any of the English lads ready?

Well borini came back the same time as the English guys, so if he's in contention then I'd have thought they would be too. And I think we need to give them some game time. This is our last friendly before we have a competitive match! Crazy!

Apart from the obvious regarding Shelvey, I was impressed with Cole and Pacheco. I wouldn't have Cole on the wings, but when he moved into more central areas, there were real glimpses of some quality there. Pacheco's pace and trickery was good and often caused the full-back to twist and turn in confusion. No end product though.

I was looking at the game in terms of how we pressed and whether there was a midfielder running in late to support the forward. Shelvey managed to do this after half an hour and that was great to see. Pressing wasn't there though.

Carragher and Enrique all over the place, but I think what this team needs is a settled period of training sessions to really get to grips with what is being asked of them.

I think we certainly pressed high up the pitch ... noticeably at times, and there was a patience on the ball in the first half. But hey this **** is going to take time.

Last night I watched the first half without going into this thread because I was worred my waffer thin broadband speed might not be able to handle the stream and anything else ... I discovered if could at half time, but in hindsight it was a terrible decision. Enjoyed just watching the game, the vast majority of commentary on here is negative, always is and when its going well its so quite you can here a fish fart .. I am staying well clear this season If I can help it

Someone said that roma played their 6th game last night and bar de rossi that was pretty much a full strength roma. we didnt do too bad then.

I thought the pressing was excellent in places. Tailed off more in the second half but then by that time it was just Lucas, Adam and Agger backed up by 7 kids.

Overall mate it was pretty decent stuff, Jose needs work obviously but hey thats what Pre Seasons are about, we are seeing some genuine talent coming through the ranks for the first time since Stevie G, take a bow Rafa

I'm pleased with the result considering who played & it's only our 2nd match with the new manager.

The pressing will get better with more fitness and training sessions. It's nowhere near the level even Swansea performed it at yet. It was always an improvement from last season's method of energy conservation anyhow.

It happens in every pre season. We'll see if they have an impact in the real games. Fingers crossed.
