    full 2nd 11?

    ------------Shelvey----------

    ---Sterling----Carroll-----Cole-

+ Spearing, Suso, Pacheco, Wilson, Flanagan

I'm not saying we shouldn't get anyone else in but its not as bad as a squad as some people are making out
I think we are way too lean and thin and lack quality in final third especially.

Also given what Rodgers said and my personal feelings Suso will go back to reserves, Sterling, Wilson, Pacheco will go on a loan and Shelvey possibly too and Adam will be used as a makeweight to bring in Dempsey.

He also said that at least 3 more players will be coming so imo we will see big number of changes before the end of the month.

Net spend of maybe £10m after letting go of Maxi, Aquilani and Dirk. So not happy no.
      Are we winning?

The window does not reflect well on FSG.
They crave Champions League yet give the new manager a paltry transfer budget
Sell to buy policy is fine, when your selling squad/out of favour players, but obviously nobody wants these turds so now we're trying to sell the crown jewels
I could have understood this conservative budget if a stadium decision was made, but no the owners are still dithering away on that (trying to do it on the cheap).
All in all I don't believe they have the resources that will allow us to compete, they know that too, so they're getting everything in ship shape condition and imo they will look to move us on, making a nice profit on the way.
          We come not to play.

Explain your sums to the nearest £10000 please, then I might take this post seriously.
            Oh I don't know.

Again, missing the point by looking for the fairy godmother solution, and not thinking about what it actually takes to get out of this situation with the resources actually available.

We need to get lucky in the transfer market (something we've not been particularly good at).

I just can't see how we can 'achieve' a top four finish with the current resources. The teams above (not Newcastle or Everton) are very strong. You can play tika taka all you want but if you don't have the players toe execute it regularly you're not going to be in the race for long.

The youngsters can be the key, but they need to be exceptional in quality with a strong mentality in order to make it in the first team, that plus a manager who is willing to actually use them. When Rogers is scraping around for a win will he be willing to take the risk on Sterling or will he throw on steady eddie Downing?

Got to say unlike previous years i'm not overly looking forward to the new season.

Ok. So you're in charge. How do YOU solve this problem?

Do you mean that from the owner point of view or the manager?

Because of your the owner you just release more funds, surely.

I don't think Imy was blaming Rodgers in any of his posts, more looking at intent from the owners part to either sort the stadium out or release more funds for transfers.

This thread will now die a death

Can someone tell me what our net spend was last season? Did we just outlay £100m straight on transfers.

The owners expectations should match their investment. Reading in another thread that there is a correlation between winning teams and the wages they pay.

Rogers apart from the foot in mouth disease with Agger (and to a lesser extent Carroll) has done ok. He's trying to right the wrongs of previous windows but who wants an overpriced Adams, Downing, Carroll etc etc?
He's got a clear strategy with regard to playing style, i just think he's hamstrung with the owners not wanting to invest. His vision is a long term one, but as we saw with Kenny how long will FSG and the fans give him?
