So basically we have a new manager with a new system, key players who played in either euros or olympics plus edtablished players out & new players in key positions.
Can someone tell me why anyone ever thought we'd do any better this season? All this top 4 talk was always pie in the sky this year.

Mind, it might help if the crowd were patient too. A couple of times it sounded like there was impatience from the supporters when we were passing the ball around the Arsenal box, holding back until we created an opportunity.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Allen was brilliant again, and as others have said is one of the few who emerges from this with any credit. Shelvey looked good when he came on. Sterling worked his socks off, and put in a better performance than players with vastly more experience.

Gerrard though. ****ing hell... absolutely dreadful. It's not only his poor passing, it's his work rate that's dropped. Just looked lazy out there today. Very poor performance.

Sahin was pretty anonymous, but did show some nice touches. He needs to put himself about a little more. There were a couple of occasions where he should have been closing down his man and didn't. I guess a slow start is to be expected considering the amount (or lack thereof) football he's played in the last 12 months. He'll come good.

I was hoping to see Assaidi on the bench today - he would have been an unknown quantity for the Arsenal defence. I'm guessing he's not really impressed in training?

Suarez and Borini were both dismal today. I really would like to see Rodgers try switching them.

Frustrating as ****. We're in for another tough season from the looks of it. We *need* to do something about our attack. We need at least 2 - a striker and a goal scoring forward. But then we all knew that already.

They are suppose to be premiership footballers, paid a fortune because they are good. If it takes a season to "re-learn" we will will be playing in the championship.

I still maintain the problem is the with three of the front four (i.e. not sterling). Suarez and Borini had a lot of the ball in the first half and either fluffed their touch, or got their distributional all wrong. We did have good positions to attack from, more than Arsenal did, but we were wank when in those positions. Borini looks like a squad player, but he can't be because of the numbers since yesterday but surely Surez can't be that bad next match. Gerrad, well he probably can, so he should be dropped.

You just cannot push everyone up the pitch and be casual with the possession without a dedicated DM. Let alone a Lucas, we need a Mascherano or a Sissoko if we are to play this style.
Well maybe the need for a centre mid player would be limited if we stopped being so casual in possession.

We've conceded 7 goals now this season in the league and bar Gera's against West Brom the others have all been down to utter **** ups. Between Pepe going all Jambo on us to us gifting the other team the ball.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

People need to wake up a bit from that "Gerrard out wide" dream. He doesn't have the legs for it anymore, it'll be worse than the **** he's putting out in the middle.

or where he is playing now

I don't think being casual in possession is actually part of Brendan's plan.

We played better against City last year. It means nothing in a 1 off game.

What Rafa thought of him but getting **** for suggesting such from media for putting him on the right where he had his best scoring season.

Gerrard is a spent force judging from his two league performances at Anfield this season.

Where does he fit into the system then? Is is not now, nor ever has been an orthodox centre midfielder. His best seasons have been either playing off the front man (Torres) in a 4-2-3-1 or as a right sided player.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
