I think he looks lost in Brendan's system & I doubt we'll ever see anything like his 10 + goals a season/ swashbuckling attacking style hero of old. He doesn't have the patience to fit into the system I feel. He's too direct for how BR wants us to play.

I agree about the lack of swashbuckling of old being gone. It's been gone for years. However he has scored at 1 in 4 in the league so far which is good for a midfielder, particularly one often asked to play as deep as he has. He's not a natural for Rodgers system that is certain but he has been adapting and I think a proper DM would help him to be better still. For me the main problem (as ever) with Gerrard in CM is about defensive discipline.

That's why i said I'm not fussed if he plays or not Dave . A year or two ago I'd never have considered us a chance to win without him, now it's neither here or there based on current form.

I can see that point of view but it seems to me coloured by the fact of his decline rather than a pure evaluation of his current form/ability. I think he's one of a very few players in our first XI who have any record whatsoever of goalscoring. I think on current form he has been as good as the other CMs (bar Allen) if not better.
