Rodgers has talked before of using Lucas deeper, Allen as the go- between and then the attacking midfielder. This should plug gaps as long as Allen reads the game and sits when required. It'll fall apart otherwise just like tonight.

Leave the midfield work to others. Problem is shelvey is charlie adam mark II and im hoping he will have more discipline as he gets older but theres no way on earth that gerrard and shelvey can play in the same midfield because neither of them want to do the dirty work.

Fair. I'd say Shelvey is the better AM of the two at the moment.

Gerrard has been sub standard for awhile now, he does not & cannot boss the midfield anymore. Is he lazy or have his legs gone? I'm not sure but whatever it is it ain't working. I agree that when Lucas comes back Gerrard should be played further up the pitch off Suarez. Would mean less running for him & more threat as he is closer to Suarez and opposition goal.

Whilst Gerrard did poorly in the final phase his movement seemed to create a lot of space for us. He seems capable of only offering something in attack OR defence but not both. The balance of the CM trio was all wrong at the end but I guess they haven't played much together and sometimes previously Shelvey has been asked to play deeper, so may have all or even mostly been Gerrard's fault.

Lucas is a top dm and allen has tremendous recovery pace but if one of them is missing the whole system falls apart because there isnt another lucas and there isnt another joe allen.

Were always going to be one player away from the system falling apart.

Can't believe we gave that game away. Henderson for the first goal was terrible. He just let it sail over his head when he should have been getting to it and the second goal was even worse IMO by standing off them on the edge of the box is just asking for trouble.

That said well done Joe cole he was good tonight. possession means **** all when your giving soft goals away all the time.

Well a win would've been nice. It would have probably put off some of the whingeing and maybe saved a few people from wishing Rafa were our manager instead of Rodgers.
