At this point in time, I'd willingly sell Sturridge for decent money... and be tempted to bring in Zlatan for one season on massive wages just to piss everyone else in the Premier League off. He might not have lightning pace or a gazillion tricks and stepovers, but he knows how to score and from all over the park...

Strange comment, so does Sturridge. :s

        We don't need either.

His goal was absolute class, anyone who can produce a moment like that in a Cup Final is quality. I don't know what more people expect from him? It certainly wasn't his fault we lost. Get him with the ball in goalscoring positions and he delivers. Every time.

His goal scoring record for us is superb.

I don't understand the clamour for selling him at all.

I'm not clamoring to sell him but you cannot play a CF who drops deep without midfield runners to go in-behind, otherwise you get what happened last night (not for the first time with that 4 playing together)

Sturridge - drops deep, only darts in-behind in last 20 yards.
Lallana/Coutinho/Firmino all operate in that pocket off the front, Firmino and Lallana try to run in-behind but don't have the pace so unless it's well timed in tight areas we're snuffed out.
Coutinho just doesn't bother, wants the ball to feet, dips inside and either passes square or shoots straight at the defender.

It's obvious how to play against us, that's why Origi or Ings is more important (better suited) to the system than Sturridge, either of them pulling on the shoulder creates more space for the 3 behind to play in.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Best solution would be if PSG bought him for zillions of dollas.
Hes defo lost a yard or two of pace, either that or hes worried that sprinting will trigger another injury

If Ings or Origi had Sturridges scoring record, I'd be happy with that. But they don't.

I'd keep Sturridge for sure, maybe he won't play every game, but if he stays fit (and there is evidence he can) he'll guarantee 20 plus goals per season. We don't know if either Ings or Origi (whom I rate highly) can.

I'd be happy going into next season with Sturbridge, Origi, Ings and then ****ing Big Chris off and getting a replacement.

Really noticed his loss of pace last night. He used to be seriously quick.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I wondered that too. Must be in the back of his mind when you've had the amount of injuries he has had.

I guess we will see how he performs once he has had a full pre-season.

...Assuming he is still with us

As Phoenix has touched on, Sturridge was dropping deeper and deeper to pick up the ball in midfield. Whether a full pre-season will aid in his rehabilitation, I don't know, but Klopp has to address the link between midfield and attack and let Sturridge work his magic up top or rejig the entire attack from scratch.
Yeah that was mad. When the ball was played I was on my feet because he'd always be favourite for that and he'd have a free run at goal. I hope it was only tiredness and not a genuine lack of pace these days.

I don't see Sturridge as the problem, for me the 3 in behind need sorting out, on their day they can be great but none of them are able to do it week in week out, most of the time one of the 3 will play well and the others will just show flashes. For me the dynamic of that 3 is wrong, add some pace or width or something to stretch the game and give us a different dimension, at the moment they all want to play in more or less the same space.

We can't tell if he has lost pace because he is afraid to sprint! There were a number of times last night where you could clearly see he was holding back and it cost him winning the ball up the pitch in dangerous positions.

It must be a fear thing because the Sturridge of a few years back would have glided over the ground and won the ball.
