I agree and so he should be, the club would be naive not to protect their asset and get it functioning correctly. Maybe he really is mentally broken.

I just hope it's emotion (ie frustration at missing our best player) rather stupidity behind a lot of these comments.

Sturridge is an amazingly talented professional footballer with the opportunity to live out every lad's dream each week. The idea that he doesn't want to play is ****ing absurd and those of us putting that idea about need to have a long hard think.

Now there may be issues around his willingness to play whilst in pain but 1. playing whilst in pain is not sustainable; 2. playing whilst injured ****s players up- Michael Owen and Fernando Torres are the obvious examples. I don't blame him for not wanting to end up that way.

Is he **** going to West Ham for £18m - tell them to double it and we'll consider it. In the meantime lets just support the player whilst he rebuilds his career and hope he gets back to his best for us.

No arguably about it. He is our best player. Which makes it all the more frustrating.

Sturridge - "My hamstring is tight, can't train today"
Physio - "No problem, let's scan it now"

            10 mins later -
Physio "Yep, definite tightness there and a little bit of scar tissue, we'll massage it, do some stretching and hopefully get you back out tomorrow"

            or

Physio - "Scans are in, no different to last week when you felt fine. You're training, out you go, see you in a minute"

Sturridge - "But meeeehhh i don't want to, (stamps feet and cries ouch! and is back to being really injured.)

Why would any club consider buying him for that price right now?

He's not worth a third of that if all he's good for is 10 matches a season.

Good, so that must be at least 2 to 3 weeks away

The idea that Sturridge will one day suddenly appear and be fixed once and for all doesn't wash after looking at his playing record. Here are the premier league games he's played so far in his career:

                        2008/09 16 (Manchester City)
                        2009/10 13 (Chelsea)
                        2010/11 25 (Chelsea/Bolton)
                        2011/12 30 (Chelsea)
                        2012/13 21 (Chelsea/Liverpool)
                        2013/14 29 (Liverpool)
                        2014/15 12 (Liverpool)
                        2015/16 05 (Liverpool)

So by my reckoning he's played 151 times out of a possible 304 (or 49.7% of the time) and over the last 2 seasons that percentage has dropped to just 28.3% (17 appearances out of a possible 60).

The lad is quality but he's a crock. Time for him to move on once this season is over I think

No chance, he's already had setbacks and had to start again. I don't he'll do it.

Surely his lack of appearances pre-Liverpool would also be down to reasons unrelated to injury although I agree the graph generally appears to be going in a downwards direction.

Sometimes a crock that can only play half the time can score more goals and win more points for you than someone that's always available.

Maybe instead of trying to get him to 100% before playing him we should just play him whenever he can play until he crocks it again and then wait until he's ready to play again and put him straight in again.

He doesn't seem like the type of player that needs much time to get up to speed and start scoring after an injury lay off.

Those stats aren't completely fair. Injury or not he was never a guaranteed starter at City or Chelsea

And regardless of those admittedly terrible looking games played, if it is possible that he can fix his issues then I think we should. Getting someone else of his quality would be absurdly expensive

There might well come a time when the professional medical staff decide that he won't ever be able to sustain the levels we required, but I don't think that's happened
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
