Could be that competitive enquiries are made and the price goes up well north of 50m. Harsh as it sounds Klopp might view Coutinho as a luxury player esp when he has two other Nos 10s who are more "pressing" in nature.

Obviously I'm speculating but I'd not be shocked if he saw this as an opportunity to Dortmundise Liverpool - ditch the slower players - Benteke, Coutinho and move in wide pace and nimble ball carrying midfielders who can work from a deeper position than Coutinho has been playing. Throw in another high quality striker maybe and go for the league wholeheartedly.

I wouldn't be too arsed if he went.

I disagree, 1. Coutinho isn't slow, his acceleration is quite quick.

        2. If klopp really thought this way, why did he take Firmino off in the EL final and not coutinho. Coutinho was the less effective player in that game but he was kept on because he has the ability to win matches with a piece of genius even if he isn't playing well.

Besides, coutinho can press well- he did so under Rodgers during the second finish season

Surround him with top players and he'll be top class more consistently. PSG want to sign him for a reason. Selling him would be madness.

Firmino was dead on his feet, doing the work that Coutinho wasn't doing. he walked through the final.

Coutinho although inconsistent, is an immense talent. Was never going to be long term here anyways & constant lack of champs league football makes it hard to keep the little premium quality we have.

If they can pay 50m for Luis, they would really want to splash the cash. We lose a big player every year so nothing new.

Play him as number 10 with two pacey wingers on each side and Sturridge up front. I'd prefer to see Firmino/Lallana/Ibe home before him.
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

                    Was he??

He played about 65 minutes and didn't look particularly fatigued to me.

Selling coutinho is in no way progression, if we did, everyone would be whinging a year from now that we lack the flair we used to possess with a player like him.

absolutely. Scored some cracking goals from the left but so much better centrally IMO. Losing our best players every year shows exactly the reality of our situation in recent times. It's frustrating.

All I know is that Coutinho went missing when he was needed. He is paid a lot less than the likes of Benteke, Sturridge, Milner and Hendo that plus the lack of CL football may mean he is open to leaving despite his words when he signed a new deal

“Liverpool have always shown a great warmth to me so when they came to me with a proposal I did not need to think twice to renew the contract,” he is quoted by The Telegraph as saying.

“I have always been looked after very well by this football club and I am very happy at this football club, so I didn’t even have to think about it.”

Phili should be part of a midfield three. He's not a No.10, but more an 8. He should be given more chance to control games from deep. Same with lallana though, they aren't front three players IMO.

This kind of speculation is exactly why he was signed. Low initial fee, sold at massive profit.

We don't play with three in the middle unfortunately.

We have played with a three of Can, Milner and Henderson at points this season. I'm suggesting that we could rotate one of Milner or Henderson with Coutinho and get more pace and 'numbers' into the front three...
