In this context, talks means negotiations, surely? Only time will tell if flat refusal is a negotiating tactic or an honest rebuttal intended to prevent any 'talks' from beginning.

50 million for coutinho? Make it £60-70, and I think we could do business... obviously the upshot is we dont buy Andy Carroll or Mario Baĺotelli, but 2 top quality players as replacement.
